Interstate Hotels & Resorts honors 2014 Performance Awards

Interstate presents awards to full-service and crossroads divisions, and top performance leaders.

ARLINGTON, VA. – Interstate Hotels & Resorts proudly announces the 2014 Performance Awards presented to 37 of the top hotels and leaders in 2014.

Announced annually, Interstate recognizes its key players among the Company’s expansive worldwide bench strength of more than 30,000 associates. The pinnacle award categories included in the honors are the General Manager and Hotel of the Year in the Full-Service and Crossroads Select-Service divisions, and the Thomas F. Hewitt Leadership Award.

The 2014 winners in these categories for the North American region are:

  • Michael Czarcinski, The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, 2014 General Manager of the Year, Full-Service
  • Mark Luther, Hyatt House Atlanta/Cobb Galleria, 2014 General Manager of the Year, Crossroads
  • Holiday Inn San Francisco Golden Gateway, 2014 Hotel of the Year, Full-Service Courtyard New York JFK Airport, 2014 Hotel of the Year, Crossroads
  • Juan Webster, General Manager, Baltimore Harbor Hotel, 2014 Thomas F. Hewitt Leadership Award Recipient, Full-Service
  • Lauri Sinclair, General Manager, Residence Inn Cleveland/Mentor, 2014 Thomas F. Hewitt Leadership Award Recipient, Crossroads

The General Manager of the Year Award goes to general managers achieving outstanding results in all areas of the balanced scorecard, including talent satisfaction, guest satisfaction, revenue and profit. Encouraged to actively participate in their community and hotel, Interstate GMs pride themselves in producing energized and efficient personnel to attentively engage guests and owners.

The Hotel of the Year Award is obtained when a hotel achieves top marks on their balanced scorecard and strategically impacts operations and sales performance. Honoring Interstate Hotels & Resorts’ former chairman of the board and chief executive officer, the Thomas F. Hewitt Leadership Award is given to extraordinary leaders who not only demonstrate Interstate’s core values, but have also demonstrated excellence, perseverance, strength of character and personal drive as they overcame unique obstacles to achieve their goal.

Interstate Hotels & Resorts Named Hotel Business’ Top Management Company
Distinguished hotel trade publication Hotel Business recently released their 2015 Management Company survey, naming Interstate Hotels & Resorts – the leading U.S.-based global hotel management company – the No. 1 leading hotel management company out of 120 hotel management companies for the sixth year in a row, based on 2014 total revenue managed.

“Receiving this title year after year demonstrates Interstate’s capabilities and depth of expertise managing hotels across all industry segments,” said Jim Abrahamson. “This is a true testament to Interstate’s successful operating strategies, global knowledge, vast resources and strong relationships, allowing the company to deliver dedicated services and exceptional results to owners and developers.”

Made to honor third-party management companies within the hospitality industry, Hotel Business’ management company survey highlights gross annual revenue, number of properties managed, number of rooms managed, number of third-party properties managed and ownership stake of each company, with comparisons to the previous year’s numbers. Interstate sweeps the board with nearly 80,000 rooms and 430 hotels managed at the time of survey.
