The cheapest island for a hotel stay is Syros, with an average price of just £46 during 2015.

Hotels on the Isle of Arran are typically praised for their homely atmosphere, great food and stunning surroundings. Jersey hotels are rated highly for their location, spacious rooms and first-class facilities, while Guernsey hotels are loved for their sea views and friendly staff.

Denise Bartlett, Communications UK & Ireland: “It is great to see the Isle of Arran soar to the top of our annual Island Ranking, which previously only included Mediterranean destinations and has been extended for the first time this year to cover all of Europe. Jersey and Guernsey should also be commended for their entries in the top 20, demonstrating the hard work from hoteliers on all three islands in building accommodation which is loved by guests and visitors. Arran, Jersey and Guernsey all have a lot to offer in terms of activities, quality accommodation and natural beauty and it is great to see them rival their Greek counterparts. Perhaps this list might inspire those looking for a last-minute summer holiday to look a little closer to home this year.”
