Jesus Pinera to head Marketing at La Manga Club

Pinera took up his new position at the start of this month and is the second key appointment that the resort has made this autumn, after Ivan Gomez was unveiled as commercial director of football last month.

La Manga Club has added to its new-look management team after Jesus Pinera was appointed as new marketing director at the world-renowned Spanish resort.

Pinera took up his new position at the start of this month and is the second key appointment that the resort has made this autumn, after Ivan Gomez was unveiled as commercial director of football last month.

The Spaniard is widely experienced in the world of international marketing and communications having worked in a range of leading roles for some of the biggest names in global tourism including the InterContinental Hotels Group and, most recently, as marketing and communications manager in Mallorca for Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts.

Nick Montgomery, general manager of La Manga Club’s hotel, spa and food and beverage section, said: “This is a very exciting appointment for the resort and we’re thrilled to add Jesus to the team.

“He has a wealth of experience operating in a number of different fields across Europe and beyond, and we’re looking forward to him playing a leading role in enhancing our reputation among the world’s stand-out sports and lifestyle destination resorts.”

Three times the size of Monaco and nestling in an exclusive corner of Murcia in south-east Spain, La Manga Club has set the benchmark for European golf resorts since opening in 1972.

The resort has enjoyed another outstanding year of success, with notable achievements including the opening of a Chelsea FC Foundation Soccer School, being voted ‘Europe’s Leading Sports Resort’ for the first time at the 2018 World Travel Awards and being named as ‘Europe’s Best Golf Venue’ at this month’s World Golf Awards for the second year in a row.

Also the official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), La Manga Club’s unrivalled facilities include three 18-hole golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre, a new European Cricket Performance Centre and a 2,000sqm Wellness Centre. In addition, it features the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 15 bars and restaurants.
