Katikies Hotels: A new gastronomic era

The leading luxury hospitality brand embarks on a new gastronomic journey with Michelin-starred Chef Ettore Botrini at the helm and more exciting news to follow.

There are two ways to do things; you can lead, or you can follow. For Katikies Hotels, that was never an actual dilemma. In the demanding and fast-growing luxury hospitality market each step you take must lead to the ultimate goal: the absolute best experience for your guest. Afterall, our guests are family, and family comes first. That is exactly why we are delighted to share our exciting news with the world, regarding our new creative collaboration with Michelin-starred Chef Ettore Botrini and his talented team throughout our hotels on Santorini and Mykonos.

“In our over 35 years of presence, we have always placed our guest in the very core of our existence. We want our world-travelled visitor to leave here feeling genuinely happy, and to accomplish that, we always ask ourselves, “What would we want when on holidays in Greece?”. Well, great food always lands on top of our list. That is why I am happy to welcome Ettore Botrini and his team on board, as I am positive that his unique talent, utter professionalism, and high values will constitute a great asset for the Katikies family”, stated Mr. Vasileios Koumpis, General Manager of Katikies SA.

In 2021 the renowned chef took over the emblematic Selene restaurant, a gastronomical and cultural landmark of Santorini Island, breathing new life into it and at the same time utterly respecting its 37 years of history. That was the beginning of a beautiful (and tasty) friendship! So, this year we decided to take things further, trusting the whole gastronomic experience of our globetrotting and prestigious guests into the talented and experienced hands of the famous Greek-Italian chef and introducing a fresh culinary concept throughout our hotels. This includes new restaurant arrivals, conceptual menus, creative combinations of local ingredients and innovative techniques, as well as out-of-the-box thinking and cooking. “My team and I are thrilled to become part of the Katikies Hotels legacy, as I feel that my culinary philosophy, which I have been serving with absolute dedication almost as long as I remember myself, is totally in tune with the top-quality values of the brand. The land of Santorini has numerous hidden treasures and I intend to make the best of them, creating a unique gastronomical experience for all our guests by offering them a true taste of Greece and the Mediterranean”, said Michelin-starred chef and entrepreneur, Ettore Botrini.

The Santorini version of multi award-winning Botrini’s Restaurant has already found its perfect spot in the iconic Katikies Santorini Hotel, enjoying sweeping views over the imposing Caldera and offering a top-notch fine dining experience for demanding palates. At the same time Selene Restaurant will continue to honour its almost 40 years old legacy from the imposing setting of Katikies Garden, exploring the magical world of Santorini’s rare local ingredients and culinary traditions in the most innovative of manners. The stunning Katikies Kirini, hanging over the cliff’s edge at one of Oia’s most privileged spots, will be introducing a brand-new dinner venue with breath-taking Caldera and sunset views, named after the majestic small volcanic island of Thirasia and serving eye-catching dishes of Mediterranean cuisine with an Italian flair, inspired by the chef’s family roots reaching all the way to Tuscany and its amazing culinary heritage. The ultra-stylish Katikies Chromata in Imerovigli and its imposing Chroma Restaurant with the million-dollar sunset views will be presenting an upscale Mediterranean menu, emphasising on the treasures of the sea. The grand Katikies Mykonos could not be left out of course, with a very exciting and unique new concept just around the corner, but we are not quite ready to reveal all our secrets just yet.

What we can share though is that from this summer on all our hotels will be serving the same lavish, “Katikies signature” breakfast, as well as an all-day a la carte menu, designed of course by Ettore Botrini himself and meeting the high gastronomical standards of the Katikies brand. Among the thrilling options of our brand-new, signature, all-day menu our guests will discover the “Oma” (Greek word for “raw”) section, an ode to simplicity and purity, locality and seasonality, true taste and authentic scent. Dare to discover the grandeur of the Greek sea and land, as provided by nature, and translated by the chef and his team into heavenly raw bites of unspoiled pleasure. Last but not least, there is no need to say that Master of Wine, Yiannis Karakasis, and his treasured expertise will continue to complete -and complement- the flavourful puzzle for each and every Katikies guest.
