Legendary Nightclub Les Caves du Roy Saint-Tropez is given a brand new look for its 50th anniversary in 2017

Scheduled to reopen this coming spring to kick off the new season in St Tropez, the venue is currently being renovated to include a brand new design, with additional VIP areas that will now host 70 tables as well as two bars and its famous dance floor.

Hotel Byblos and its mythical nightclub Les Caves Du Roy Saint-Tropez, will celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, having held residence in the heart of St Tropez since 1967. The nightclub, one of the most famous and longest standing establishments on the French Riviera and beyond, will undergo a complete renovation promising even more legendary nights for years to come.

Scheduled to reopen this coming spring to kick off the new season in St Tropez, the venue is currently being renovated to include a brand new design, with additional VIP areas that will now host 70 tables as well as two bars and its famous dance floor. With such heritage, the aim was not to invent something entirely new but to create a more comfortable and welcoming experience, whilst keeping the soul and identity of the venue intact. The transformation of the iconic venue is in the care of Miami based Francois Frossard Design,
one of today’s leaders in hospitality design. Known for his signature ‘grand style’, Frossard is also responsible for the recent renovation of the Queen nightclub in Paris and participated in the redesign of the LIV in Miami; amongst other recognised nightclubs and restaurants around the world. His technique is very much in line with the current new romantic design movement and he is known for pairing fanciful design with traditional elements. It is therefore no wonder the mythical nightclub is trusting his impressive talents in its biggest refurbishment yet.

The main entrance will be even more majestic and grandiose than it was previously, embellished with a laser cut main entry bar, and featuring the new 50th anniversary logo in polished brass. The spacious open floor plan will showcase a colour palette of brass, cognac and warm woods. Seating will be arranged in an amphitheatre style, featuring Ebony Macassar banquettes, upholstered in a rich cognac leather in diamond stitching, and larger tables to surround the legendary dance floor. New rosewood walls, complemented by a mix of tufted panels in rich velvet, will present a more intimate and elegant setting, combined with the glamour for which the club has always been known for. The signature palm trees and the club’s trademark disco ball will remain constants.

Audio and visual enhancements highlighted by LED ceiling fixtures will capture movement and undulation to reflect ocean waves. A state of the art sound system and redesigned DJ booth are also in the plans.

“For this remodel, our goal was to keep some of the elements that made this place so amazing for the past 50 years and to merge it with new technology” comments Francois Frossard.

Ever since its opening in 1967, Les Caves du Roy has been synonymous with the elegance and glamour of the French Riviera, and has continued to welcome the rich and famous including the likes of Brigitte Bardot, who christened the nightclub back in 1967, Bono, Jack Nicholson, Cher, Elton John and Naomi Campbell to name a few. In more recent years,
Puff Daddy, Leonardo Dicaprio, Marion Cotillard and the Beckhams have all been spotted at the nightclub.

Les Caves du Roy will reopen in spring 2017 in time to host the after-show parties for Hotel Byblos’ official anniversary celebrations in May and its annual Summer Party to be held on 19 July 2017.
