Located at the base of historic Al Faya Mountain, the new glamping experience in Sharjah combines outdoor adventure with luxury.
SHRJAH – Offering a perfect getaway for nature lovers and adventure seekers, Sharjah’s Mleiha Archaeological Centre has announced the launch of a new glamping experience. Packed with eco-friendly features and modern amenities, the ‘Mleiha Glamping’ offers guests a unique opportunity to spend a splendid night in the picturesque mleiha desert and experience traditional hospitality along with unique adventure experiences.
The well-designed and aesthetically pleasing luxury “Yurt” tents come in Standard, Family, and Deluxe Family categories, and combine the comfort of a hotel with the thrill of outdoor camping. The standard tent can accommodate two adults and the Family and Deluxe Family tents can accommodate two children. As a gathering venue, guests can choose all five tents or additional tents based on their preferences.
“We are pleased to offer visitors a new glamping experience. We aim to provide guests with an unforgettable experience, while also educating them about the rich history and culture of the region. Our campsites are equipped with modern amenities, cozy tents, comfortable beds, and a range of activities to make the stay as enjoyable as possible” said Mahmoud Rashid Deemas, Director of Operations and Tourism Development at Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). “We have integrated the tents into the natural environment of the mleiha desert in a way that complements the surrounding ecology and does not negatively impact the local flora and fauna” he added.
Beginning at 5.00 p.m. and continuing till 10:00 a.m. the next day, the glamping experiences bring diverse experiences of the Mleiha Archaeological Centre together. Starting with a Unimog shuttle service, taking the guests to the campsite where they can unwind in the lounge and enjoy refreshing hot or cold beverages, the experience continues to a memorable dining experience under the stars with the option of choosing from a specially curated menu, live on-site dinner, or a barbeque of their own. A Special 20-minute stargazing session with astronomy experts can also be explored during the night.
The morning begins with a short 4×4 ride through the mleiha sands catching the sun rising over the horizon, followed by a traditional picnic breakfast basket, where guests will have all the provisions for a delicious breakfast. Guests can also learn about the history of the camping grounds with complimentary access to the Mleiha Museum, which is home to Historical and archaeological findings, dating back to the Paleolithic Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and the pre-Islamic-period.
