Monterey Marriott makes breathtaking first impression with completion of $2.4m. renovation

Monterey hotel reinvents its lobby, Great Room and restaurant so guests feel even more at home.

MONTEREY, CALIF. – Travelers will truly know Monterey Marriott on a first-name basis after getting a taste of a $2.4 million renovation inspired by life in California's First City.

The Monterey hotel is putting the finishing touches on a reimagined lobby, Great Room and restaurant to encourage guests to relax and dine comfortably. Designer Aaron King of Koncept Design Group helped lead the transformation using natural elements that "create a stylish and sophisticated environment reflecting the unique and beautiful characteristics of Monterey and the surrounding areas."

Visitors of the hotel in Monterey will notice the change at their very first glance, as a new revolving door welcomes them into a lobby where socializing, meeting and working will become natural habits. Striking feature benches in what King calls the "chill area" of the lobby are clad with driftwood and catch the attention of a passersby almost immediately. Dark, wood ceramic flooring ties the lobby and Great Room together to bring warmth and comfort year-round. Fabrics and finishes were chosen for their high sense of style and durability.

Warm, friendly smiles from the Monterey hotel's professional team will greet visitors as they check in at registration pods boasting under-lit white quartz waterfall edges that complement dark, oak-stained wood. New lighting throughout the spaces pays tribute to the historical significance of Monterey, with nostalgic Edison bulbs in iron and hand-blown glass cases lighting the ways of time. Technology also plays a key role in the new Great Room and lobby, with high-speed wireless internet available to all travelers so they can stay well-connected to professional and social obligations.

Chef Samuel Santos brings his love of food and passion for the kitchen together at Fin + Field, the hotel's new eatery. The decor of the Monterey restaurant integrates seamlessly into the heart of the new lobby, picking up the under-lighting at its stunning bar serves custom cocktails concocted by attentive bartenders. Similar feature benches carry through the theme of sophistication and uniqueness. The menu of the restaurant will focus on local produce, sustainably sourced seafood and humanely raised cattle, something Santos well understands after growing up in San Antonio, Texas and raising his own chickens, growing his own herbs and planting produce to match the seasons.

"It will be love at first sight – and taste – when guests book a stay at our newly renovated Monterey Marriott," said Rene Boskoff, general manager of the hotel. "We hope to be first in the hearts of travelers after they see that every detail of our renovation was taken into account to offer warm and welcoming surroundings."
