Movenpick Hotels & Resorts to make debut in Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah

Strategic Partnership with Movenpick Hotels & Resorts to launch 5-star resort featuring 450 rooms, 120 branded residences and 70 branded apartments and villas; to be ready by 2020.

DUBAI, UAE – Al Marjan Island (AMI) Company, a leading waterfront development company in the UAE, forged a strategic partnership with Movenpick Hotels & Resorts to launch its first resort in Ras Al Khaimah. This was announced at the sidelines of the participation of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority at the 2016 Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai.

The partnership was revealed at the stand of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority by Andreas Mattmuller, Chief Operating Officer, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts Middle East and South Asia and architect Abdullah Rashed Al Abdouli, Managing Director of AMI Company. The project is located on Breeze Island at a magnificent water front location. The construction will commence next year and the resort is expected to be completed and start operations by 2020.

The resort is one of the main 5-star strategic projects to be announced by AMI in 2016. The resort will boast 450 rooms, 120 branded residence, and 70 branded apartments and villas, in addition to world-class entertainment attractions, restaurants, cafes, and fitness facilities.

It is a matter of pride to announce that AMI will be the home to the maiden Movenpick resort in Ras Al Khaimah,” says architect Al Abdouli. “This partnership represents an iconic addition to the veritable gems on the picturesque AMI Island and it will increase our market share of the 5-star hotel rooms in Ras Al Khaimah. An exceptional location for the resort has been allocated on Breeze Island making this project an exceptional combination of service and location to provide the highest standards of comfort to our guests.

We noticed exceptional performance among hotels in Ras Al Khaimah in general, and AMI in particular. This encouraged many international hotel companies to expand their presence in the Emirate. A recent Colliers International report affirms that hospitality performance saw increase in hotel supply in Ras Al Khaimah despite the uncertainty in source market. It added that additional opportunities for new hotels in key locations are on offer, with a wide range of leisure and health facilities,” added Al Abdouli.

It is always very exciting when we enter a new destination and Ras Al Khaimah is a fantastic addition to our portfolio. We have extensive experience operating large, beachfront resorts for families and teaming up with great partners to bring this project to fruition is something we are really looking forward to,” said Andreas Mattmuller, Chief Operating Officer, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts Middle East and South Asia.

We are pleased to confirm that visitors to Ras Al Khaimah will soon be able to enjoy the brand new, five star resort on Al Marjan Island. Ras Al Khaimah is quickly becoming a top destination of choice for local, regional and international visitors, and our hospitality sector has shown consistent growth. As part of our strategy to diversify our product offering and hotel brands, developments such as this one with Movenpick will ensure we are able to continue to meet the demands of travellers as we work towards our goal of welcoming one million visitors by the end of 2018,” added Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.
