Mr & Mrs Smith expands boutique hotel business to the U.S.

New Los Angeles office houses growing customer service and travel booking teams.

LOS ANGELES – Mr & Mrs Smith, the award-winning hotel website, booking service and travel club founded and based in London, announced today its U.S. expansion with the opening of a new office in Los Angeles. The expansion will allow the team to provide even more bespoke travel booking services to discerning travelers, a need precipitated by the company’s rapid growth. In just one year of operation in the U.S., Mr & Mrs Smith has doubled its business and increased bookings by 300 percent in California alone.

“We’re seeing a clear desire in the U.S. for stylish and highly personalized hotel stays – people are choosing unique properties over big box hotel chains,” said James Lohan, founder of Mr & Mrs Smith. “We look for hotels that offer more than just a place to sleep. Our curated collection of properties, paired with Mr & Mrs Smith’s travel team booking experts, ensures every aspect of a vacation is unforgettable, from the moment of arrival to check out.”

Mr & Mrs Smith carefully selects and enlists tastemakers – professional chefs, designers, actors and musicians – to personally visit, carefully vet and anonymously review every hotel in the collection. The review process is extensive. Tastemakers book in for a stay – sleeping in the beds, sitting at the bar, and sampling the cuisine to ensure each experience is worthy of the Smith stamp of approval. Booking a stay with Mr & Mrs Smith not only guarantees the best price available for the trip but also provides complimentary extras upon arrival, including up to 5 percent back on every booking and access to a dedicated team of travel experts, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – meaning no matter where you are in the world, Mr & Mrs Smith has got your back.

In line with its love for unique and high style spaces, Mr & Mrs Smith tapped lauded interior designer (and Mr & Mrs Smith tastemaker) Tamara Kaye Honey to create a bold, imaginative U.S. headquarters. Honey, namesake of House of Honey, was honored in 2014 as a Pacific Design Center STAR ON THE RISE and with a place on the Luke Gold List in 2015.

“I wanted to create a space for Mr & Mrs Smith that visually communicates its unique point of view on everything hospitality experiences should be,” said Honey. “The aesthetic of the new office is intentionally reminiscent of the boutique properties Mr & Mrs Smith curates for its travelers. It’s surprising, romantic, quirky and a little bit naughty.”
