New General Manager named for two neighboring Marriott Hotels in Metairie

Josh Leibowitz will serve as the leader of the Courtyard and Residence Inn hotels just 7 miles from Downtown New Orleans.

METAIRIE, LA. – Two neighboring Marriott hotels in the New Orleans area have appointed a new leader to keep their momentum moving forward when it comes to guest satisfaction scores.

Josh Leibowitz has been named the dual general manager of Courtyard New Orleans Metairie and Residence Inn New Orleans Metairie. The Florida State University graduate took the reins of both Metairie hotels in mid-August 2016 after spending 15 months in Birmingham, AL as the general manager of the Courtyard Birmingham at UAB Hospital.

"Leading two hotels that are TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winners is an exciting challenge while I get to know the Metairie and New Orleans communities," Leibowitz said. "These hotels already have quality guest reviews thanks to hard-working teams, and I'm dedicated to helping inspire them to offer even more superior hospitality services. We'll focus on the details and let the good times roll for our guests."

Leibowitz began his career with Marriott in 2000 as an assistant restaurant manager at The Renaissance Vinoy St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club in Florida before leaving for a competing Hilton hotel in that area. He then moved to Pensacola, FL as director of food and beverage for Hilton Pensacola Beach and Hampton Inn Pensacola Beach in 2004. Panama City Beach, FL was his next destination after accepting the director of restaurants position at Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort in 2007.

The Marriott family came calling once again when Leibowitz became the operations manager at Residence Inn Jacksonville in 2010. After two years in The River City, he moved to Baton Rouge, LA, where he served as assistant general manager and general manager of the Courtyard Baton Rouge Acadian Centre/LSU Area. He is credited with greatly improving guest satisfaction scores. Leibowitz's desire to take on a challenge then brought him to Birmingham, AL.

In Metairie, Leibowitz will be tasked with attracting even more business and leisure travelers to his hotels, which are 7 miles from Downtown New Orleans and 5 miles from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Each offers complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi to keep travelers well-connected, in addition to rooms and suites with flat-panel TVs, premium movie channels and beds topped with cotton-rich linens and fluffy pillows.

When not at the office, Leibowitz enjoys spending time with his son, running, lounging at a beach, doing crossword puzzles and cheering on his Florida State Seminoles at football games.
