New Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach brings contemporary Hawaiian design to Oahu’s Kuhio corridor this December

DESIGN360unlimited to energize former Waikiki Trade Center as oasis within region’s urban landscape.

HONOLULU, HAWAII – Scheduled to open this December in the former Waikiki Trade Center, Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach (2255 Kuhio Avenue) will bring a beach-inspired oasis from the minds of DESIGN360unlimited. Continuing the renaissance taking place along Waikiki’s Kuhio corridor, the property will feature 230 upscale design-forward guestrooms and suites to convey the concept of kipuka – a Hawaiian term for “oasis” that physically represents an island surrounded by a moving outpouring of lava.

Inspired by kipuka, the design journey through the hotel will take guests from an initial exhale as they step foot into the main lobby – to a feeling of decompression as they are enveloped in the calm and comfort of the guestrooms. The lobby features a six-foot tall custom green sculpture resembling circular drift wood with local vegetation adorning the piece. This is set against an accent wall resembling rough lava to set the tone for the relaxed Hawaiian ambiance that is incorporated throughout the hotel. To further help guests find a retreat in their Hawaii experience, the property’s corridors embrace the kipuka theme with clean and simple lines and soft blue ombre wallcoverings which render the calming features of the sky and sea.

The spacious guestrooms continue to embrace a soothing but fresh design. A range of blue and green colors throughout the rooms are inspired by the colors of the ocean and sky. Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping views of Waikiki, guests will feel a sense of peacefulness amongst a subtly stylish design.

The hotel’s eighth floor brings together the overall vision of kipuka at Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach. Featuring the main lobby, pool deck, restaurant and bar, this floor will invite guests to exhale and refresh. The outdoor area acts as a refuge from the urban environment surrounding the hotel by incorporating green walls and bamboo trees amongst lush Hawaiian plants.

The hotel will also feature organic art reminiscent of sea creatures and an abundance of tropical wood and teak utilized in furniture pieces throughout. Each art installation and furniture piece will showcase the natural beauty of Hawaii available outside of Waikiki’s urban areas.

Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach will place guests at the center of the island’s action, allowing easy options for exploration while simultaneously providing an oasis within Waikiki’s urban landscape.
