Announcing the recipients of the prestigious 2001 Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star Awards, Exxon Mobil Corporation said in mid January that it again included The St. Regis, New York and its fine-dining restaurant, Lespinasse.
The St. Regis Hotel is owned by White Plains-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc, which is one of the leading hotel and leisure companies in the world with more than 725 properties in 80 countries and 120,000 employees at its owned and managed properties.
Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan at East 55th Street and Fifth Avenue, The St. Regis was built in 1904 by Colonel John Jacob Astor and is a landmark building in the classic Beaux Arts tradition. Both the hotel and its signature restaurant, Lespinasse, have been bestowed with many awards in the past, including the Triple A Five Diamond Award as well as the Mobil Five-Star Award.
In 2000, Lespinasse was rated one of the top ten dining experiences in the US in Wine Spectator`s year 2000 edition of America`s Best Restaurants, stating that, Lespinasse has become the best expression of classic French cuisine in the city, if not the country.
