Opera Mansion: The Opera of Santorini is transformed into the defini-tion of high-end hospitality

Driven by the philosophy of the Aqua Vista group to handpick the most se-lect boutique hotels, the company’s experienced executives and special-ists handled the conceptualisation and materialisation of this very demand-ing project, aiming to preserve the mansion’s glorious past while bringing it into the 21st century.

The Opera of Santorini, where the first opera of the New Greek State was performed, will open its doors once more in the spring of 2017 as Opera Mansion. The venue has been transformed into a luxury suite by Aqua Vista Hotels and the mansion retains references to its illustrious past, while now being a very private space designed to suit the desires of discerning couples.

Paying the utmost respect to the original character and historical significance of the building, the legacy of the mansion is re-tained in its name and also in its logo; a palm tree, which can also be found in the original entrance.

Aqua Vista Hotels took on the full scale modernisation and renovation of the emblematic Opera of Santorini, which dates back to the 18th century, working in the context of a multilevelled cooperation with the Opera Man-sion, to create a fully restored luxury suite with a distinct identity. The lay-out of the 120 m² Opera Mansion was planned with a great deal of care in order to preserve the overall character of the ‘cave’ building. Alcoves were transformed into functional spaces and the natural partitioning of the struc-ture allowed for the design of an indoor pool. Even the old wine cellar was given a new lease of life. The characteristic white of the Cyclades prevails while orange and brown touches were added to contrast beautifully with the island’s volcanic elements.

Situated in the heart of Santorini on Fira’s caldera path, the Opera Mansion is in the perfect location for couples who wish for a romantic haven to es-cape, where all of their expectations are met by discreet concierge ser-vices, something which Aqua Vista Hotels is synonymous with.

Mrs. Sofia Matzourani, Business Development Manager of Aqua Vista Hotels, commented, “We are particularly pleased to have entered into this new collaboration as it was a unique challenge, which Aqua Vista Hotels handled with great success. Total respect was given to the historical significance of the building and every measure was taken to ensure that it retained its unique character. The Opera Mansion is a welcoming luxurious escape in the heart of Santorini.”
