Pan regional tourism takes off, says Hyatt International

A surge in pan regional tourism is leading to an upturn for international hospitality operators, according to Hyatt International

A surge in pan regional tourism is leading to an upturn for international hospitality operators, according to Hyatt International.

Now the chain is planning to launch a series of new regional products at Arabian Travel Market 2004, the Middle East`s premier travel and tourism exhibition, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from May 4-7.

The effects of several crises last year are over and have actually resulted in an increase in pan regional tourism said Thierry Bertin, Area Director of Sales Middle East, Hyatt International . Pan regional tourism will grow further and with the consolidation of peace, new business development and investments will generate more business travelers. The development of hi-tech facilities will also nurture the development of MICE tourism in the Middle East.

With the stepping up of pan regional tourism, Hyatt International plans to launch several new products into the market at Arabian Travel Market. These include the Grand Hyatt Cairo, a new worldwide sales office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a toll free reservations centre in Dubai and the 142 room Park Hyatt city resort in Jeddah, which is due to open late next year. Hyatt International will also be assuming the management of the Churchill hotel which will become Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill as from May 1st 2004.

Hyatt International has been at the Arabian Travel Market since its inception and looks upon the show as an ideal forum to meet key professional buyers from the area, up-date market knowledge and introduce new products, said Bertin. More than 20 Hyatt executives from around the world will be present at the company`s stand.

The surge in pan regional tourism has boosted the Middle East`s presence at Arabian Travel Market 2004 – which is on course to be 25% larger in terms of floor space than last year`s show.

Certainly the region has responded remarkably well to this year`s Arabian Travel Market, said Matt Thompson, Overseas Exhibitions Director, Reed Travel Exhibitions, which organises the show.

We have had new interest from the region, including Syria, and there has been a host of new-to-market exhibitors from the Middle East.

To date, exhibitors from 52 countries have registered for Arabian Travel Market 2004.
