Radisson Hotels and Resorts enhancestraining initiatives for 2002

Minneapolis, Minn.: Radisson Hotels<.> & Resorts` employee training and education department announced that it has partnered with two professional organizations that specialize in hospitality training – Signature Legendary Sales & Service Training, and the Educational Institute (EI) of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. Radisson will work with each entity to not only streamline and more accurately measure the effectiveness of the company`s training initiatives, but also add a new web-based element to Radisson`s employee development efforts. These training enhancements will begin in January 2002.



These two industry leading hospitality training resources will help us achieve our goal to delight the customer with genuine hospitality and exceptional and consistent service, quality, and loyalty programs, said Jay Witzel, president and chief operating officer of Radisson Hotels & Resorts.



They will enable our corporate and hotel employees to access training and education best practices whether in person or online and help our brand become best in class.



Signature



Honored in 2001 as Radisson`s Supplier of the Year, Signature will expand its relationship with the company in 2002 to conduct all Radisson training courses. These courses including Yes I Can! trainer certification, a program for hotel-level managers and supervisors responsible for implementing Radisson`s foundational guest service program; Building Sales Skills, a fundamental sales course designed for hotel and regional sales personnel; Generating Profitable Sales, a workshop for graduates of the basic sales skills course that focuses on increasing overall profitability; and Revenue Management, a course for general managers, directors of sales and others responsible for accurately forecasting demand in order to maximize room revenue.



According to Steve Outwater, senior director of training, education and hotel services for Radisson, the unique point of difference between Signature and its competitors is that it will conduct critical post-training mystery shopper assessments to determine the overall impact of its work with Radisson employees. These critical follow-up steps will not only ensure that the information was relevant to our employees` job duties, but that Signature`s training techniques changed behavior for the better, and ultimately created a positive return on investment for the company, said Outwater.



For years, the strong results we`ve generated through our ongoing training support has proven that Signature is the best and final choice of training companies in all markets, says Mark Johnson, executive vice president of marketing and European operations for Signature. This is why I believe Radisson chose Signature to conduct all of their field-based training events.



Educational Institute



To complement Signature`s custom on-site training, Radisson will begin work with EI to offer hundreds of Internet-based hospitality training and career

development opportunities through the CourseLine* System. CourseLine* is an interactive, effective, low-cost way of providing formal education about the hospitality business and is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

The e-course topics that will be available to all field and corporate employees range in topics from food and beverage to general hospitality management.

It`s exciting to provide new e-learning options to our employees, and provide coursework that reflects the latest thinking and techniques for building essential skills, says Outwater.



We are very proud to be the training partners of such a dynamic hospitality organization, said Al Hodge, senior sales manager for EI.



As part of the CourseLine arrangement, Radisson employees will also have access to EI`s CourseLine Plus* which offers complete instruction and training for 455 software systems including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and others. In addition, employees can view CyberCinema*, a series of employee development videos delivered to their desktops through web streaming.
