Regina Hotel and Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Center Hotel win 2016 Quiet Hotel Award

On 20 December the 2016 Quiet Hotel Awards will be presented, after careful evaluation of the more than 140 European hotels which possess a Quiet Room label.

AMSTERDAM – On 20 December the 2016 Quiet Hotel Awards will be presented, after careful evaluation of the more than 140 European hotels which possess a Quiet Room label. Hotel Regina in Paris and Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre Hotel have been selected as the winners of the these unique awards for quiet hotel rooms.

The evaluation has been carried out by the independent Quietroom foundation, which monitors the qualification of hotels for the Quiet Room label. The selection is based on the following criteria:

  • (busy) location of the hotel
  • number of rooms and number of rooms with a QR-label
  • number of rooms with the highest QR-qualification
  • design & build measures for sound insulation
  • client reviews on social media

Just as in 2015, Hotel Regina in Paris, a luxury hotel close to the Louvre, has been selected as the overall winner. This 5-star hotel was fully renovated in 2015 and situated at a very busy location in the centre of Paris, yet has managed to have all its rooms qualify for the QR-label. The Regina also receives a lot of positive reviews from travellers who are happy with their quiet rooms.

The special Quietroom Design&Build Award goes to the Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre hotel. This 4-star hotel, situated by the Rembrandtpark and the A10 ring road, is quite exceptional. It was originally an office building, but by incorporating the necessary insulation during the renovation, it has managed to make all of its 446 rooms comply with the regulations pertaining to category 2 of the Quietroom label.

Recently, the Quietroom Foundation published the Quiet Room Guide for architects and developers. This guide tells building professionals all they need to know about the QR label, the requirements for certification and the latest methods for soundproofing hotel rooms.
