MERRY HILL, N.C. – Scotch Hall Preserve will host more than 200 property owners, real estate prospects and local dignitaries on Memorial Day Weekend to celebrate the grand opening of two new family resort amenities at the 900-acre community overlooking the Albemarle Sound in northeastern North Carolina.
Opening on that weekend are The Soundside Beach Club & Pavilion – featuring Northeastern North Carolina’s largest resort-style pool complex – and the first phase of the community’s new marina, according to Dutch Remkes, general manager of Scotch Hall Preserve.

In addition to the expansive swimming complex, The Soundside Beach Club also features a children’s playground along with a pavilion for special events and family gatherings, with a gazebo, fire pit, grill, bar, restrooms and changing areas.
The first phase of the marina – located at the mouth of Salmon Creek near the Albemarle Sound – features 16 private slips, a boat ramp and picnic area reserved for property owners and members of Scotch Hall Preserve. Plans ultimately call for up to 92 slips along with fuel docks.
“These new amenities are further proof of our commitment to make Scotch Hall Preserve one of the elite resort communities in the Carolinas, and will help strengthen our appeal to retirees and second home buyers,” Remkes said.
The Memorial Day celebration announcement caps off a year of intense development activity, with over $7 million in new investment at the community, Remkes said. Construction of the first phase of an elegant collection of waterfront cottages has been completed, and a number of new homes are underway in the community, he added.
“Our marketing campaign is beginning to pay dividends, especially in the Research Triangle region, which has produced the largest number of new owners and prospects,” Remkes said.
To augment its Triangle marketing strategy, the community recently opened the Scotch Hall Preserve Discovery Studio in Lafayette Village off of Falls of Neuse Road near I-540 in North Raleigh. The community is developed by Rial Corporation.
