September hotel prices skyrocket across Europe

Paris ($283 up 48% from last month), Rome ($205, up 41%), Florence ($231, up 43%), Brussels ($181, up 65%) all report significantly higher hotel rates this month than in August. Barcelona ($230 this month) saw the most significant year-over-year growth in hotel prices (up 18% from last September, $195).

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY – Hotel prices rise 72% this month in Munich ($280), where the beloved Bavarian, beer-filled celebration of Oktoberfest will take place. Fashion enthusiasts flock to Milan this month for Milan Fashion Week, sending hotel prices to climb 62% from last month (September 2013: $246, August 2013: $152). Meanwhile, travelers attending the 70th Annual Venice International Film Festival will pay an average $370 for a hotel room, (46% more than they would last month; $253). Paris ($283 up 48% from last month), Rome ($205, up 41%), Florence ($231, up 43%), Brussels ($181, up 65%) all report significantly higher hotel rates this month than in August. Barcelona ($230 this month) saw the most significant year-over-year growth in hotel prices (up 18% from last September, $195). These are the findings of the trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) prepared each month by hotel search trivago.com.

San Francisco fills up for Oracle OpenWorld event
A standard double hotel room in San Francisco will cost visitors attending the Oracle OpenWorld (Sat, Sept 21 – Thurs, Sept 26, 2013) an average $399 per night. The most expensive night to book is Sunday, September 22, where prices rise to a steep $442/per night, up 63% from the previous Sunday ($271). Hotel prices rise 72% in Munich (for Oktoberfest) and in Toronto (for the Toronto International Film Festival).

The tens of thousands of visitors coming to San Francisco over the five-day Oracle OpenWorld business conference, which spans Sunday, Sept 22 through Thursday, Sept 26, will pay an average $399 per night per standard double room. The most expensive night to book is the first of the event, Sunday, Sept 22nd, where prices climb to $442/night. The least expensive is the last night of the event, where travelers will pay $321/night for a room in the City by the Bay. Availability reaches its lowest point on Tuesday, the 24th, at 25%. Below is a breakdown of prices and availability over the entire period of the event.
