Solage Hotels & Resorts announces $2.3m. in capital improvements for flagship property Solage Calistoga

Renovations designed to elevate experiences at the award-winning Spa Solage and six-time Michelin star-rated Solbar Restaurant.

CALISTOGA, CALIF. – Solage Hotels & Resorts, a California-based hotel and resort management company, announced renovation plans for its flagship property, Solage Calistoga, located in the heart of California wine country. Solage Calistoga’s top-rated Spa Solage and six-time Michelin star-rated Solbar restaurant will undergo a $2.3 million transformation beginning in January 2015. In order to best accommodate the capital improvements program without affecting the guest experience, the property will temporarily close for three weeks starting after Solbar brunch service on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. and will reopen on Friday, Jan. 23. Solbar will officially reopen on Saturday, Jan. 24 for breakfast, lunch and dinner service.

“Napa Valley is a premiere destination for approachable luxury travel,” said Richard Hill, president of Solage Hotels & Resorts. “It’s our mission to constantly improve our offerings and give our guests exciting reasons to return time and time again. In 2015, we’re thrilled to add a refreshed yet comfortable interior to the Solbar dining room and a new co-ed Relaxation Room at Spa Solage.”

The vision for both interior spaces was designed by Shirley Robinson, principal of Robinson Finishes, a San Francisco-based interior design and finishes company.

“We are creating a contemporary look and feel for Spa Solage and Solbar, which will be executed with luxe furnishings that capture the organic essence of the Napa Valley lifestyle,” said Robinson. “We have worked closely with the Solage team to ensure that the ambiance for both areas reflects the award-winning atmosphere and experience for which Solage Calistoga has become known.”

Spa Solage Enhancements
The Spa Solage expansion will add more than 3,000 sq. feet to the Spa Solage Reception building including a new 1,409 sq. foot indoor/outdoor co-ed Relaxation Room. Other enhancements include two new outdoor showers and 56 additional lockers in both the men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, along with refurbishments to the reception and boutique areas. Updates to the overall spa area will include a clean new color palette of shades of whites and silver with ultra-plush materials that create a luxurious, yet informal retreat aesthetic.

Newly appointed, industry-renowned spa expert, Helen Brown, joins Spa Solage as executive director and will oversee the redesign and ongoing spa operations. Prior to joining Solage Calistoga, Brown served as spa director for numerous luxury spas including the Mayflower Inn & Spa, and Golden Door Spas at The Boulders and The Peaks Resort and Spa.

The Spa Solage renovations are expected to be complete by May 1, 2015.

Solbar Enhancements
The Solbar dining room and lounge will be completely transformed via a comprehensive redesign that will enhance the experience of Chef Brandon Sharp‘s Michelin-starred restaurant. Custom built partition walls made from reclaimed wood and oversized multi-paned windows will divide the lounge and dining room, creating exclusive, intimate settings for both areas. The partitions, which will feature woven panels in warm tones of taupe brown and creamy gold, will echo the palette of the Napa countryside.

Other notable updates to the dining room include the addition of rustic wood bookshelves, antique accent mirrors, circular banquettes in rich grey blue mohair that will accommodate seasonal floral arrangements and a redesign of the room’s signature fireplace which will be framed by driftwood logs. The bar will be relocated so that patrons can perch on new brass-studded leather barstools and enjoy panoramic views of the majestic Palisades Mountains. A new private, open-air Chef’s Tasting Room, lit with aged bronze lanterns and a custom wine bottle display wall, will be added to the room’s existing outdoor atrium.  The table will seat up to eight people for one seating per night.

The renovations will double the size of Solbar’s outdoor seating with the addition of a new patio located within an adjacent courtyard on the north side of the building. The restaurant’s state-of-the-art kitchen will also be reconfigured and redesigned to expedite service and accommodate the amplified seating.

The Solbar remodel is expected to be complete by Jan. 24.
