Spark by Hilton

Following a multi‑signing announcement with Verkehrsbuero Hospitality, two Spark by Hilton hotels will open in the Austrian capital later this year.

VIENNA, AUSTRIA – Hilton has announced the signing of two hotels under Hilton’s new premium economy conversion brand, Spark by Hilton, as part of a wider agreement with Verkehrsbuero Hospitality. Spark by Hilton Vienna Donaustadt and Spark by Hilton Vienna Messe Prater will both open later this year.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said, “We’re thrilled to bring the Spark by Hilton brand to Vienna, meeting demand for premium economy accommodation in this highly popular destination for both business and leisure travellers. Our Spark by Hilton properties are ideal for guests looking to maximise the value of their travel budget, while experiencing the reliable and friendly service our hotels are known for across the globe. This collaboration with Verkehrsbuero Hospitality marks a key milestone for Spark by Hilton as the momentum behind the brand continues, with nearly 250 Spark hotels already trading or under development worldwide following its launch just 18 months ago.”

Martin Winkler, CEO, Verkehrsbuero, said, “We are thrilled to embark on this partnership with Hilton to bring new hotels to travellers. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for us, and to be part of the team bringing Spark by Hilton to Austria is incredibly exciting for us all, and we are eager to bring our shared vision to life upon opening both hotels.”

The 198-room Spark by Hilton Vienna Donaustadt will be located in the commercial hub of Vienna’s Donaustadt district, while the 243-room Spark by Hilton Vienna Messe Prater will be situated within walking distance of the main Vienna Exhibition Hall (Messe) and the Danube River.

Suited for both business and leisure travellers and providing exceptional value without compromise, both hotels will deliver reliable, friendly essentials with unexpected touches, and feature Spark’s signature amenities, including:

  • Guest rooms with practical amenities, including simple streamlined furniture, an open closet, multi-purpose work surface and bright bathroom featuring Zero% bathroom amenities.
  • Bright public spaces providing multi-functional seating, from communal tables to rocking chairs, offering plenty of comfortable options for guests to socialise or work.
  • A signature Hydration Cart featuring complimentary still and sparkling water as well as fresh fruit.
  • A 24-hour retail market, where on-the-go travellers can purchase food, drinks and other essentials around the clock.
  • Simple, inspired design with splashes of colour, vibrant exterior statement walls and energising artwork.

The brand not only delivers exceptional value for guests, but also offers a compelling proposition for owners and operators. A cost-effective conversion brand, it provides a unique opportunity for existing properties by reimagining the premium economy segment and focusing on areas that drive the guest experience, while also providing a consistent look and feel across each hotel.

The new properties will join seven other Hilton hotels in Austria: DoubleTree by Hilton Vienna Schonbrunn, Hilton Garden Inn Wiener Neustadt, Hampton by Hilton Vienna Messe, Hilton Vienna Waterfront, Hilton Vienna Plaza, Hilton Vienna Park, and Hampton by Hilton Vienna City West.

Guests of all Hilton properties are able to benefit from the award-winning Hilton Honors guest loyalty programme, allowing more than 195 million members who book directly with Hilton to earn Points for hotel stays and experiences. Hilton Honors members can also unlock access to instant rewards and benefits, such as contactless check-in with room selection and exclusive member discounts.
