St. Regis Hotels & Resorts debuts its twenty-first hotel in Puerto Rico

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts continues to underscore its reputation as the world’s leader in luxury hospitality as it debuts its twenty-first hotel with The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico. Coupled with the highly anticipated 2010 openings of The St. Regis Osaka and The St. Regis Lhasa Resort, the renowned brand will have doubled its global footprint in the past two years with this unveiling of its latest resort. St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, lauded for its dedication to refined elegance at the world’s best addresses, will celebrate the opening of its twenty-first hotel in November with a glittering evening at the flagship St. Regis New York, a glamorous Midnight Supper hosted by St. Regis Global Brand Leader, Paul James, a global Krug champagne sobering, and the launch of the Suite Luxury, Legacy Rates package for guests offering a historic rate of $4. While this celebrated brand enjoys over 100 years of history, 2010 is a landmark year which will further St. Regis Hotels & Resorts’ reputation for timeless elegance and modern sophistication.

“St. Regis is thrilled to celebrate the brand’s twenty-first hotel and exceptional global expansion,” says St. Regis Global Brand Leader Paul James. “By doubling the brand’s distinguished portfolio of hotels and resorts we have truly achieved a milestone moment and are proud to continue our commitment to bringing St. Regis’ unparalleled luxury and bespoke service to our discerning guests around the world.”

The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico will be the first St. Regis resort in the Caribbean and will introduce unmatched luxury and bespoke service to one of the world’s most beautiful destinations while preserving the area’s pristine landscape. In celebration of the twenty-first St. Regis hotel and the brand’s global expansion, Paul James will host a splendid fete on November 10th at the flagship St. Regis New York. The event will be complete with festive jazz performances by Kat Edmonson and a silent auction featuring an exciting trip around the world with stays at St. Regis Hotels and Resorts. The fortunate guests who embark on this journey of a lifetime will find themselves jetting from Beijing to Rome, enjoying remarkable culinary experiences, unmatched accommodations and access to sites and events that only St. Regis can provide. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit UNICEF’s Education for All program. UNICEF works tirelessly to ensure that every child – regardless of gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic background or circumstances – has access to a quality education. Guests attending the chic cocktail event will also enjoy a special menu from renowned Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Jean-Georges’ highly anticipated restaurant Fern opens in November at The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico.

The 21st celebration will also feature the unveiling of the St. Regis Collection by Alexis Bittar inspired by Caroline Astor. Caroline Astor, or “The” Mrs. Astor as she was known, was one of the most important social doyennes of her time and the creator of the Astor “400,” the exclusive elite group which defined New York society during the Gilded Age, as well as the mother of St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV. Bittar’s exclusive collection is a modern twist on Caroline’s revered jewelry collection and includes a brooch, earrings and necklace; each piece pays homage to Caroline’s famed jewels which she boldly exhibited at New York’s premier social events.

To finish off a spectacular evening on November 10th, Paul James will host a glamorous Midnight Supper at The St. Regis New York, harkening back to the early days of the legendary brand. Midnight Suppers served as one of Caroline Astor’s many social rituals at The St. Regis New York in the late nineteenth century, and the affair in November will surely rival these gatherings of New York society. Jewelry designer Alexis Bittar will join Paul James and other noteworthy guests, for a total of 21 attendees, to celebrate the debut of St. Regis’ 21st hotel in an extraordinary fashion. The Midnight Supper also feature an exclusive Krug champagne experience where guests will enjoy tastings of Krug Clos du Mesnil 1998, Krug Vintage 1998, Krug Grande Cuvee and Krug Collection 1989, each of which will be expertly paired with a special menu prepared by Jean-Georges. The dinner event marks the first public tasting of Krug Collection 1989, a special 21 years old vintage, to toast this milestone in St. Regis history. At the same time, St. Regis guests around the world will be included in the festivities with a sabering of Krug Grande Cuvee at 21:00 on the evening of November 10th. It will truly be a worldwide celebration of the St. Regis legacy. Additionally, on behalf of each of the 21 guests, St. Regis will make a donation to fund a temporary school through UNICEF’s School-in-a-Box initiative.

This fall, St. Regis will also launch the Suite Luxury, Legacy Rates offer for guests who plan to travel to a St. Regis property in 2010 and / or 2011. In honor of St. Regis’ outstanding international growth, guests booking select suites for at least two consecutive nights at participating properties will receive the second night’s stay for only $4, the price of a suite at the flagship St. Regis New York when it opened in 1904. With this exceptional package, St. Regis guests around the globe have the opportunity to enjoy the ultimate St. Regis suite experience during a landmark year for the brand. Suite Luxury, Legacy Rates is available through Spring 2011.

The brand’s celebration of their 21st hotel kicked off last month with Jazz at Lincoln Center’s opening night concert performance for their 2010 – 2011 season, where St. Regis offered guests exclusive access to the event. Paying special tribute to unforgettable jazz performances that have been a foundation at The St. Regis New York since its opening, St. Regis also partnered with Jazz at Lincoln Center to produce Timeless is Modern, a limited edition jazz CD produced exclusively for St. Regis. The CD features a selection of 21 beloved jazz standards curated by Wynton Marsalis and performed by Marsalis and the acclaimed Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. To commemorate this milestone in St. Regis’ growth with the opening of a 21st hotel, as well as the brand’s deep-rooted history with jazz, the Timeless is Modern will be gifted to all guests tonight at St. Regis Hotels & Resorts worldwide as part of the signature turndown service.
