Starwood expands in Argentina with the inauguration of Sheraton in northwest City of Tucuman

Sheraton Tucuman is the company's ninth Sheraton in the country and the first five-star international hotel in the city.

STAMFORD, CONN. – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announces the opening of the highly anticipated Sheraton Tucuman Hotel in Argentina. The spectacular new property offers a vibrant, open atmosphere and all of Sheraton brand’s signature amenities and services, including Sheraton Club Lounge, Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft, and Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core Performance. It also features extensive state-of-the-art meeting facilities, making it the ideal venue for events. The hotel is located in Tucuman, the capital of the province, facing the beautiful 9 de Julio Park, and blocks away from the city’s Historic and Civic Center. The property is owned by Argentine company Sol del NOA S.A. and is operated by Starwood.

“Sheraton is an icon in Latin America having been the first international hotel brand to be established in major cities, including Buenos Aires, Santiago and Lima. Today, Latin America boasts several of the world’s fastest growing economies and is one of the most promising for the Sheraton brand,” said Hoyt Harper, Global Brand Leader for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “Sheraton continues to be one of the most sought-after hotel brands in Latin America and around the world and as a result, we are experiencing record-breaking growth with plans to open our 500th Sheraton hotel by 2015.”

“Sheraton is Starwood’s powerhouse brand around the world and in Latin America where we currently operate 33 Sheraton branded hotels from Mexico City to Buenos Aires,” said Osvaldo Librizzi, Co-president of the Americas, Starwood Hotels and Resorts. “Adding the Sheraton Tucuman to our portfolio and continuing to expand the brand’s robust footprint in Argentina is an important part of our aggressive expansion strategy in Latin America, and we are thrilled to bring this project to life.”

Sheraton Tucuman is the ninth Sheraton branded hotel in the country, and the tenth hotel under a Starwood brand in the country. The hotel offers 124 spacious rooms, including six Executive Suites and a Presidential Suite. The Sheraton Club Lounge is located on the top floor, and has a panoramic view of the park and the mountain landscape.

With more than 28,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting space, Sheraton Tucuman will feature one of the largest convention centers in the region. Meeting areas include five ballrooms with the largest measuring more than 10,800 square feet and a poolside terrace that spans more than 9,500 square feet and provides sweeping views of the mountains. The extraordinary landscape is a beautiful backdrop for events and receptions.

“This project is part of the tourism and hotel sector development plan that Sol del NOA has been implementing in Argentina and in the region. Through this partnership with Starwood, Tucuman will now count with the world-class level of services that only an international chain like Sheraton can guarantee, establishing itself as the gateway to the entire north west of Argentina,” said Gustavo Cinosi, President of Sol del NOA.

The hotel features Mora Bistro Argentino, a gourmet restaurant that will have an international menu strongly influenced by the region’s gastronomy, along with a Lobby Bar and a Snack bar located on the pool deck.

Sheraton Tucuman’s expansive Spa, covering more than 8,600 square feet, is the first of its kind in the region and will provide a full range of regional therapies. The hotel also offers Sheraton Fitness by Programmed Core Performance, the brand’s revolutionary health and fitness program, which offers guests the possibility of working out and eating healthy even while traveling.

Located in the north west of Argentina, San Miguel de Tucuman is the tranquil capital of the province. Popularly known as the Garden of the Republic due to its abundant vegetation and spectacular weather year-round, it offers a wealth of tourist attractions that include the House of Independence, The House of Bishop Colombres, the Casa Padilla Museum, the San Miguel de Tucuman Cathedral and the El Cadillal Dam. Tucuman also has numerous forests and natural sanctuaries that are almost intact. In addition to the archaeological circuits and the Jesuit paths, visitors can enjoy mountain biking and hiking in the Valles Calchaquies.

Sheraton Tucuman is located 10 kilometers from the Airport in one of the exclusive zones of the Tucuman capital, where many important companies are headquartered.
