Takethefamily releases list of top 10 family holidays in Greece

After a slump in bookings to Greece this summer following headlines about its debt problems, and in the light of Greece’s pro-bailout parties securing a majority in last month’s election, bookings to the country have picked up. The recent terrible British weather has also proved a factor in boosting sales.

Says Takethefamily‘s Head of Content Rhonda Carrier, "With great bargains and discounts to be had, Greece is once more proving an attractive and competitive proposition for family holidays. And the country needs a healthy tourist industry more than ever before.

"Of course, the recession means that many families will be opting for half-board or all-inclusive packages, but that doesn’t mean they can’t directly help the local economy too. For instance, you might make space in your luggage to take old clothes to donate to local charities or orphanages, donate to Greek wildlife organisations or animal refuges, and buy souvenirs produced locally from sustainable materials. It’s also important to get out of resort and support locally owned cafes, bars and restaurants."
