BERLIN – The Design Hotels XXL Limited Edition Book 2013 has received the Red Dot Award for Communication Design. As one of the largest design competitions in the world, the annual Red Dot Awards are an internationally renowned seal of quality, judged by a panel of design heavyweights.
To commemorate its twenty-year anniversary, Design Hotels teamed up with the pioneering Finnish design brand Artek. Iconic designer Alvar Aalto’s famous Stool 60 and a table have been specially customized to accompany each of the 1,000 limited edition copies of the 25kg book. Together, the three items comprise a peerless objet d’art for design and travel addicts alike. A smaller coffee table version is also available. Both versions are twin souls of content, providing guided tours of a dreamland to get lost in.
Designed as an ode to travel, this wonderfully oversized book features a curated portfolio of over 240 hotels in 150 destinations around the globe. Serving as a source of inspiration for travelers, designers and architects worldwide, the stunning photography and insightful descriptions bring the hotels and destinations to life. With 800 wanderlust pages bound in fabric hard-cover, this collector’s item tells the story of a movement and a community that began in 1993.
