The most breathtaking art stays at Soho Hotel Barcelona

The popular artist Franc Aleu, creator of the masterpieces “Le Grand Macabre” or “El Somni” leaves his mark on the hotel. This cutting-edge NN Hotel Group establishment mixes Art, Interior Design and Architecture all in a same place.

BARCELONA – The Barcelona Soho Hotel reflects Barcelona’s singular vanguardism at its best and in every corner. Franc Aleu stands out among the different artists that have taken part in the creation of this characteristic environment. This videoartist is best known for his popular pieces “El Somni” o “Le Grand Macabre”, as well as for his multidisciplinarity and groundbreaking style. Aleu has perfectly transported his distinctive style to the walls of the hotel, creating a hide-and-seek game, introducing an enigmatic feeling to the whole installation.

The lighted-up panels created by the artist represent different parts of the body as a hand, an ear or a torso… provoking an interesting sensation to the visitor. All these body parts appear all along the building from the lobby to the rooms and the hotel leisure spaces accompanying the host. The moire technique reinforces the hide-and-appear effect of the body shapes which integrate soft lines to conform volatile figures in an intense variety of tones; settling Soho Hotel as a point of reference in the avant-garde Barcelona scene.

Aleu is a creative volcano always working on breaking the rules, mixing and mashing up the different disciplines he finds out to be stimulating. His latest success was “El Somni”, a multisensorial creation based on a gastronomic background in collaboration with Roca brothers Joan, Josep and Jordi; owners of the 2013 best restaurant of the world, El Celler de Can Roca” located in Girona. Apart from Aleu’s works, two more artists bring special elements to the Barcelona Soho Hotel. The spaces created by Alfredo Arribas Associated Architects set a suggestive yet relaxed environment, and pop artist Verner Panton furniture creation brings a retro sensation in order to add a sophisticate touch to the hotel.

Located on the Gran Via just about 5 minutes to Placa Catalunya, the Soho Hotel is the best option for couples and inquiring minds that feel like experiencing something unusual while staying in Barcelona. All its rooms – last home automation system integrated – are different from each other, all in a colour palette including indigo, green, orange or maroon. In its inner part an interior courtyard and a gardened zone is hidden, as well as the terrace located on the rooftop where we can find the swimming pool and the solarium zone. A place where the visitor is able to enjoy the privileged view on the Barcelona’s Gran Via street.
