The Ned Doha opening November 2022

The Ned Doha is set over five floors with architecture by David Chipperfield Architects and interiors by Soho House Design.

The Ned Doha – a members' club and hotel in the heart of Doha – is set to open its doors in November 2022. Located in the former Ministry of the Interior building, The Ned Doha is on the Corniche waterfront, with views over the Persian Sea, city parklands and the neighbouring Doha Palace.

Originally designed by acclaimed Lebanese architect William Sednaoui in the 1960s, the 500,000sq ft site now has members’ spaces, 90 bedrooms and 12 suites and seven restaurants, plus a health club with spa, gym, 30m outdoor pool and event spaces.

The Ned Doha is set over five floors with architecture by David Chipperfield Architects and interiors by Soho House Design. The team used The Ned London as their inspiration to create a ground floor Atrium with a live performance stage at its heart, surrounded by restaurants.

In another nod to the original Ned, green Tinos marble has been used throughout the ground floor areas.

Outside, a lush oasis-in-the-city garden has been created, with water features, space for contemporary sculptures and a pergola design to provide sun-dappled shade.

Ned’s Club
Ned’s Club members will have access to Millie’s on the ground floor, as well as a balcony level for a bird’s eye view of stage performances.

On the rooftop, Ned’s Club Upstairs acts as a beacon of 70s glamour, with a warm wood palette, touches of gold, statement furniture, silk rugs and modern lighting. There is a stage which will feature live music and entertainment, an international menu serving Ned’s Club classics and views overlooking the West Bay and the Diwan.

Members will also have access to Ned’s Club Spa and Gym on the top floor with panoramic views of the city plus an extensive treatment list. The Health Club is also home to a gym and studio space with state-of-the-art equipment and a wide range of classes, plus men’s and women’s individual steam rooms, saunas and a traditional hammam.

Restaurants
A selection of member and public restaurants circle the ground floor, around the stage with daily live performances. Alongside familiar names like Cecconi’s, Kaia, Nickel Lounge and The Electric Diner will sit Millie’s. Here, members will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and buzz of the surrounding restaurants and performances before retiring to the rooftop club lounge upstairs.

Bedrooms
There are a total 90 bedrooms ranging in size from Cosy, Medium and Large, including 12 suites, all of which have outdoor balconies. Each of the rooms channels a glamorous 1970s design, with silk drapes, plush velvet woven fabric headboards and marble furniture.  In many of the rooms, the original coffered concrete ceilings have been retained and restored.

12 suites with connecting rooms feature mirrored headboards, reflective surfaces and walk-in wardrobes.

Ned’s Club Spa & Grooming
On the ground floor there are two dedicated grooming areas with private internal courtyards. A space for women offers a hair salon and popular services including manicures, pedicures and facials, while the other grooming area for men houses a modern barbershop.

The Corniche Hall
This new event space has its own private entrance and is capable of hosting large scale conferences, events and standing receptions for up to 600 people for a standing reception. The huge space is filled with natural daylight and is arranged around a landscaped courtyard which also provides additional outdoor event space. The Corniche Hall also features some of The Ned Doha art collection.

Ned’s Club Pool
A 1970s inspired area with private cabanas overlooking a bold green 30m pool, terrazzo flooring and green and white striped daybeds. The space is for members and hotel residents only.

Malibu Kitchen
Malibu Kitchen is a Californian inspired, air-conditioned, outdoor restaurant which is open to the public all year around, serving favourites from the menu like sea bream tacos and courgette flatbreads, alongside new dishes from the grill.

Hadika
Hadika is a Levantine restaurant focusing on Mezzeh family style food like fattoush, arayes and shish tawook. Hadika is situated in a beautiful shaded outdoor garden with three private dining rooms.

Art Collection
The Ned Doha art collection brings together the work of local and regional artists, working across a variety of mediums and disciplines. The art collection boasts over 150 works and spans painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, textile and installation, many of which have been commissioned specifically for The Ned Doha. Through a wide range of themes, including identity, history, culture, globalisation and ecology, the art collection explores preoccupations and inspirations that drive the work of contemporary artists in Doha and the Arab region.
The Ned Doha art collection is curated by the co-founders of Mathqaf, Wadha Al-Aqeedi and Elina Sairanen.
