TMS snap poll underlines positive industry sentiment

A snap online poll conducted by TMS Asia Pacific throughout June indicates that 41 per cent of industry staffers believe the market is slowly recovering. A further 26 per cent of those polled indicated that while the global recession still has a firm grip, the worst of the situation is almost over. However 33 per cent of those polled indicated little has changed and the ‘bad days are here to stay’.

The TMS poll bears out recent comments made by TMS Asia Pacific CEO Andrew Chan who indicated increased activity in May and June across many of the areas where the company is operational.

These include Australia, China including Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, the UK/Europe and North America. This, he said, was a strong sign that local market confidence is slowly starting to return.

Mr Chan’s comments reflect the release this week of further good news for the company’s Australian operation following the recent  release of the latest Westpac-Melbourne Institute survey.

That survey shows Australian consumer sentiment rose by 12.7 per cent from 88.8 in May to 100.1 in June. This is according to Westpac the second largest recorded increase in the Index since the survey began in 1974.
