TRIPBAM welcomes EY veteran Tim Nichols as its new Vice President of Air Solutions

The travel procurement expert will lead the expansion of TRIPBAM’s award-winning hotel offering into the air category in 2021.

DALLAS – TRIPBAM, the global hotel rate auditing, benchmarking, analytics and sourcing provider, announced Tim Nichols as its new Vice President of Air Solutions. In this newly created role, Nichols will lead the development and rollout of TRIPBAM’s suite of technology solutions in the air category. The new offering is expected to go live during the third quarter of 2021.

Nichols joins TRIPBAM from EY, where he served as Global Supplier Leader for Travel, Meetings and Events for nearly a decade, overseeing the airline, lodging and ground transportation categories for one of the world’s largest travel programs. During his tenure, Nichols was instrumental in transforming the way EY’s travel program sourced and managed hotel rates, an initiative that earned EY’s Global Head of Travel, Meeting and Events Karen Hutchings Business Travel News’ 2018 Travel Manager of the Year. Nichols and his colleagues were also named 2016 Travel Team of the Year by the Institute of Travel Management and 2015 Travel Team of the Year by Buying Business Travel, both awards that recognized EY’s innovative approach to travel management and procurement.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Tim to the TRIPBAM team to lead our expansion into air,” said TRIPBAM founder and CEO Steve Reynolds. “We’re building something that’s entirely based on the feedback and needs of corporate travel buyers. Tim’s exceptional procurement and analytics expertise make him a perfect fit for TRIPBAM and all that we’re working to achieve to bring our award-winning rate auditing, analytics and benchmarking capabilities beyond hotel to a new segment of travel for corporates.”

Before joining EY, Nichols spent four years at TRX, a Concur company, providing procurement and spend management services to travel buyers across the globe. Prior to that, he served as the lead consultant at Travel Analytics, which applied proprietary technologies to the analysis of more than $20 billion of global travel spend before being acquired by TRX.

“I’ve long admired TRIPBAM’s technology, its buyer advocacy and the way the company works directly with customers to continue to innovate and disrupt the industry,” said Nichols. “I’m eager to now take that same approach to deliver an air offering that solves for many of the legacy problems inherent in air sourcing and program management.”

Nichols will begin his new role effective this month and will continue to be based in Cleveland.
