Vida Vacations introduces brand Ambassador deal with Carlos Ortiz for Vidanta Golf

Mexico's largest golf course developer teams up with rising PGA Tour rookie.

NUEVO VALLARTA, MEXICO – Vida Vacations, a luxury destination club offering access to the world’s finest resorts, announced that professional golfer Carlos Ortiz has signed to represent Vidanta and Vidanta Golf as a brand ambassador. Ortiz, who grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, will wear the company logo during every PGA Tour competition and participate in promotional activities for the brand. Mexico’s only PGA Tour event, the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, was held on November 10th through 16th, 2014.

“Vida Vacations members will be delighted to learn that investments are being made to continually raise the caliber and profile of Vidanta Golf,” says Eric Dubaele, Director of Hotel Operations for Vidanta. “From championship designed courses to a champion golfer like Carlos representing the company, our members know that their golf experience will be unmatched in this part of the world.”

Ortiz, 23, grew up playing at Guadalajara Country Club, the same course where LPGA great Lorena Ochoa got her start. He attended and played golf at the University of North Texas and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in international studies in 2013. Ortiz won three tournaments during the 2013-2014 season including the Panama Claro Championship, El Bosque de Mexico Championship and WinCo Foods Portland Open.

Ortiz’s recent success earned him a PGA Tour card for the 2014-2015 season, making him the first Mexican national since Esteban Toledo in 2004 to obtain such an exemption. The Web.com Tour named Ortiz its 2014 Player of the Year, and he is quickly becoming one of the most recognized golfers in Mexico. Ortiz has aspirations of encouraging greater youth participation in golf throughout Mexico and representing his country at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Ortiz’s first tournament as a Grupo Vidanta ambassador was at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Nov. 10-16.

Vida Vacations offers its members access to award-winning courses located on the most beautiful beaches of Mexico: Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Acapulco, Puerto Penasco and Puerto Vallarta. The Vidanta Golf courses are known for their quality and standard of service. Three Vidanta Golf courses are of Jack Nicklaus design, and a Greg Norman-designed course is in development in Nuevo Vallarta.
