VIKAND launches solutions to combat common hospitality industry challenges

VIKAND introduces technologies to solve common issues affecting guest experience.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – VIKAND, the leader in global maritime medical operations and healthcare solutions, aims to improve problems affecting guest experience in hospitality. During this year’s Lodging Conference, the premier lodging conference and tradeshow for senior-level executives in the hotel industry, VIKAND has announced strategic partnerships with technology solutions manufacturers that target key issues affecting the overall guest experience and business model for stakeholders. With its success in the cruise industry, which includes vessels often referred to as floating hotels, the company will present new solutions to the hospitality industry where similar challenges can be met.

Since 2010, VIKAND has proven its expertise in providing solutions to optimize guest experience, tackling challenges typically facing the cruise industry that are also prevalent in the hospitality industry – including bed bug infestations, foodborne illness outbreaks, and air decontamination – using cutting-edge technology:

Proactive Bed Bug Prevention
Avoiding bed bugs is challenging in hotels where there are many guests and high turnover. Periodic, preventative inspections by innovative technology solutions are the best way to detect infestations in their initial stages when they are easiest to control. Visual inspections can be supplemented by using various monitoring devices to capture and reveal bed bugs that may have been overlooked by occupants. VIKAND has partnered with state-of-the-art Swedish solutions provider Nattaro, who manufactures Nattaro Safe and Nattaro Scout, to combat the growing issue of bed bugs around the world. Each product is scientifically designed to eliminate or detect bed bugs, respectively. As the exclusive distributor of these products, VIKAND is offering this solution to assist the hospitality industry, providing a clean and safe environment for guests and staff thus reducing correlating healthcare issues and consequential challenges.

Protecting Against Foodborne Illness
In enclosed environments, like hotels, viruses like foodborne illnesses are more easily transmitted person-to-person. VIKAND has the medical experience and solutions to detect and prevent outbreaks. By introducing PathSpot to the hospitality industry, the company aims to stop foodborne illnesses by tackling the source: the handwashing behaviors of food handlers. PathSpot is an innovative hands-free technology used to detect foodborne pathogens after handwashing to enforce the most hygienic practices and to reduce cross-contamination. With existing success in the U.S. foodservice industry, VIKAND is certain the technology will have a positive impact on the hospitality industry, as well.

FDA Approved, 100% Natural Air-Purification and Air-Decontamination
VIKAND’s Hygensea
solution is a revolutionary FDA-approved air purification technology designed to remove pathogens and toxins, both in air and on surfaces, which could be harmful to guests and employees. The technology helps to clean air in public spaces while eliminating unpleasant odors that could linger in the environment. This technology has been very effective in improving air quality and reducing tobacco smoke in casinos resulting in a significant reduction in smoke-related complaints and increased revenue for the cruise industry. Thus, this technology is poised to have similar results in hotels facing guest complaints resulting from smoke and odor in casinos, lobbies, or fitness centers.

At VIKAND, we have the capability to introduce new technologies that can greatly impact and enhance the guest experience,” said Peter Hult, CEO of VIKAND. “With cruise ships and remote locations facing similar challenges as the hospitality industry, it is a natural transition to introduce our products and services to hotels – facilitating access to quality and cost-effective solutions.”
