Warwick Castle unveils 28 woodland lodges

Mediaeval-style features in the Lodges and banqueting hall, such as lofty ceilings – echoing the Castle’s Great Hall; wooden beams; stonework; and green oak wood-styled exteriors create an enchanting ambience.

Those on a quest for fun and adventure are urged to book now to be among the first to stay in the new Knights’ Village at Warwick Castle, 28 lodges set in the wooded idyll of the attraction’s 64 acre estate.

All lodges offer fully ensuite facilities, including wet rooms, and come equipped with TV, fridge, coffee maker and central heating. Overnight guests enjoy a hearty breakfast in the banqueting hall and two days entrance to Warwick Castle as part of their stay.

Mediaeval-style features in the Lodges and banqueting hall, such as lofty ceilings – echoing the Castle’s Great Hall; wooden beams; stonework; and green oak wood-styled exteriors create an enchanting ambience. Spellbinding details including mediaeval-themed light fittings, door handles and crockery excite the imagination.

Furnished comfortably with bespoke items evoking mediaeval styles, the Lodges boast private accommodation including a wooden deck, a living and casual dining area and plenty of storage (ideal for when little Knights and Princesses need a change of outfit mid-quest!).

Appealing to families and couples, as well as groups of friends seeking an overnight experience unrivalled anywhere in the UK, Knights’ Village offers year-round accommodation – captivating and cosy in the cooler months whilst light-filled and airy for spring and summer getaways.

Guests will find their Woodland Lodge themed to an authentic mediaeval occupation: Archer or Falconer. Warwick Castle – over it’s 1,102 year history peppered with battles and sieges – has provided generations of archers and bowmen with clear sightlines over the town of Warwick and surrounding countryside, whilst birds of prey have graced the Castle over the centuries. Absorb compelling tales from English history – and have a go at archery. Lodge guests can also enjoy the splendour of birds of prey in flight in one of the jaw-dropping twice-daily shows.

Geoff Spooner, General Manager at Warwick Castle, said: “This is a new chapter for Warwick Castle as from 1 July we’ll offer guests year-round lodge-style accommodation to complement the Castle’s two sumptuous Tower Suites, set within the fourteenth century Caesar’s Tower, and our superb seasonal Mediaeval Glamping Village.”

He added: “With the 400th anniversary of the death of Warwickshire’s very own William Shakespeare being marked globally in 2016, Warwick Castle – just twenty minutes from Stratford upon Avon – is the ideal place to stay to discover over 1,100 years of English history. We’re also very proud of our links to Capability Brown, who designed parts of the our grounds in the eighteenth century and whose genius will be celebrated nationwide throughout 2016.”

Warwick Castle’s captivating daily shows and attractions include birds of prey displays, have-a-go archery, live actor experiences such as The Castle Dungeon and The Princess Tower, Trebuchet Talk, The Great Hall and State Rooms, Kingmaker and Time Tower.
