Alain St.Ange will attend the preliminary sessions of the 5th Africa Tourism Day and 2nd Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum, focusing on women’s roles in sustainable tourism and climate action in Addis Ababa.
Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation has confirmed that Alain St.Ange of the Seychelles will be a delegate at the preliminary sessions of the 5th Africa Tourism Day and the 2nd Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum (ATCAF) 2024 that will be held at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on November 6, 2024. Themed “Repositioning Women for the Next Frontier of Sustainable Tourism and Climate Action,” these sessions will set the stage for the main events from November 25-28, 2024, in Ekiti and Osun States, Nigeria. Alain St.Ange with join Dr. Abigail Olagbaye and a number of delegates from the world of tourism from across Africa.
The pre-sessions aim to bring together global stakeholders in tourism, climate action, and sustainability to discuss Africa’s tourism sector in the context of climate change, with a special emphasis on women’s leadership and inclusion. The forum will explore critical issues and opportunities to empower women in the climate action and sustainable tourism sectors, aligning with Africa’s aspirations for a greener and more resilient future.
ATCAF 2024 will include a comprehensive conference on sustainable tourism and climate action, with a focus on training and honouring 150 women across Africa who have pioneered change, driven innovation, and contributed significantly to climate and tourism initiatives. With at least three women nominated from each of Africa’s 55 countries, this event is a significant call for increased women’s inclusion, leadership, and empowerment in sustainable development. Attendees will engage in workshops and training on sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, creative industries, waste management, tourism, and more.
Alain St.Ange is a Tourism Consultant and Head of the Saint Ange Tourism Consultancy and works alongside Tourism Boards and Ministries of Tourism across the African Continent and in the ASEAN Block. He was the former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine of Seychelles who was a candidate to be the Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and one of the three candidates vying to be President of the Seychelles in the 2020 Presidential elections.
