Aviation-Event

Aviation-Event’s strategic visit to Perpignan showcased the unique blend of aviation, culture, and tourism, exploring historical sites and discussing potential collaborations to boost regional connectivity.

PERPIGNAN – Aviation-Event, a leading platform in the aviation and tourism sectors, recently conducted a strategic visit to Perpignan, highlighting the unique blend of aviation, culture, and tourism at several iconic locations. Accompanied by Luc Citrinot, Journalist, Voyages d’Affaires, and Nicolas Berthet, Promotion and Communication Manager, Perpignan Tourist Office, the Aviation-Event team explored the region’s rich historical and artistic significance.

The visit included the discovery of Perpignan. A city of 120,000 inhabitants, it offers a unique blend of French and Catalan cultures visible in its architecture and monuments, its gastronomy and its culture. It is an important tourism destination. In 2023, the district (département) recorded 29.3 million overnights.

One of the city’s highlights is the Hyacinthe Rigauld Museum, a historical and cultural gem where the legendary artist Pablo Picasso stayed several times. The museum, celebrated for its extensive
collection of classical and contemporary art, served as a striking backdrop to discussions. This fusion of the creative arts with cutting-edge aviation developments embodied Aviation-Event’s mission to connect the past with the present, fostering a dialogue between tradition and technology.

In addition to the museum, the visit to the exquisite L’Ile de la Lagune Hotel, a five-star seaside property near Perpignan, famous for its luxury and scenic views, the hotel has also been a destination for legendary French celebrities. Actors Pierre Niney, renowned for his role in The Count of Monte-Cristo, and Isabelle Huppert, star of The Sitting Dock, have both graced this iconic location. The hotel’s blend of elegance, history, and its connection to the cinema made it a fitting site for the visit.

The team also explored the picturesque village of Collioure, near the Spanish border. This beautiful coastal village is famous for inspiring painters like Henri Matisse and André Derain, who founded the Fauvism movement. The vibrant colours and artistic heritage of Collioure were celebrated during the visit, showcasing the region’s deep connection to the arts.

A key highlight of the visit was Perpignan Airport, where discussions centered on potential collaborations aimed at enhancing the region’s connectivity and tourism profile. With its close
proximity to historic sites and luxury accommodations, Perpignan Airport is poised to become a gateway that links cultural heritage with modern travel, attracting both business and leisure travelers.

Marcel Riwalsky, CEO, Aviation-Event, says: “Perpignan is a unique blend of historical richness and modern innovation. The Aviation-Event team’s visit emphasizes the significance of the region’s cultural and logistical strengths. We are excited about the potential to explore new opportunities in aviation, art, and tourism. It is uplifting to witness how sites like the Hyacinthe Rigauld Museum and L’Ile de la Lagune Hotel are still intact and vibrant. This visit showcased future possibilities while celebrating Perpignan’s rich heritage.”
