Located in the south of the island, the municipality of Migjorn combines scenic inland towns with a beautiful coastline, popular with locals and visitors alike.

Fom the Mondragó Natural Park to the pristine beach of Es Trenc, the rural and bohemian region of Migjorn is the perfect place to relax whilst taking in the stunning views of Mallorca.

Located in the south of the island, the municipality of Migjorn combines scenic inland towns with a beautiful coastline, popular with locals and visitors alike. As one of Mallorca’s driest areas, Migjorn ecosystem features typical Mediterranean vegetation, white sandy beaches, cliffs, sand dunes and small coves.

Migjorn’s capital, the town of Llucmajor, is the largest municipality in Mallorca and, with a coastline stretching over 47 km, the region is an ideal spot for sailing, diving or simply relaxing on its white sandy beaches. Its interior landscape features fields of almond and fig trees, and the area offers many cultural and historical experiences, exceptional architecture and opportunities to visit wineries.

Migjorn is also known for its quarries where the precious “Santanyí stone” comes from, giving local buildings their characteristic gold colour. Some of the best examples are the Cathedral of Mallorca or the Bellver Castle, not to mention the region’s many houses and farms.

The five districts that make up Migjorn include Campos, Felanitx, Llucmajor, Ses Salinas and Santanyí famous for their fertile grounds and many farms, producing milk to make the island’s most renowned cheeses. The region is also the site of a salt mine that has maintained traditional extraction techniques.

Attractions worth visiting in the area include the Mondragó Natural Park, a protected sanctuary for wild birds and a Natural Area of Special Interest (ANEI) part of the Natura 2000 Network, the thermal waters of Sant Joan de la Font Santa popular on the island since Roman times, as well as the sought-after tourist beach S’Arenal and the virgin beach of Es Trenc. The region also offers stunning views over the archipelago of Cabrera, Spain’s first maritime-terrestrial national park opened in 1991.
