Carlton House Terrace launched three new event spaces after a £9.6 million refurbishment, enhancing versatility and accessibility, aiming to accommodate a growing demand for hybrid events and elevate in-person experiences.

{10-11} Carlton House Terrace – home of The British Academy for humanities and social sciences – officially launched three brand-new, double-height event spaces in its transformed venue. Following a £9.6 million development project, supported by £5 million from the Wolfson Foundation, the Grade I listed building’s underutilised lower ground floor has been re-purposed as versatile event spaces.ven

100 event professionals attended the exclusive launch, which showcased the existing rooms available, as well as the newest additions designed by Wright & Wright Architects. The brand-new adjoining Lecture Room, Wohl Gallery and SHAPE Room are fully accessible for all individuals, and feature contemporary design, branding opportunities and built-in technology throughout. The vibrant spaces, which can be booked individually or combined for exclusive hire, are ideal for hosting a multitude of flexible event set-ups.

Bringing the events industry together in the transformed venue, the evening highlighted how significant investment in the historic building’s infrastructure has enhanced its inclusivity and accessibility for all. The removal of physical barriers between the west and east entrances has created a more open environment with unobstructed sightlines for in-person events. For hybrid and digital events, the installation of state-of-the-art technology systems transcends the physical space, making every event accessible to global audiences digitally.

On the night, superb catering was provided by the venue’s in-house partner – Searcys. The menu consisted of Searcys classics, including their Selected Cuvée Brut, served with a selection of canapés and bowl food and ending with an interactive dessert station. The event spaces were dressed using the in-house AV facilities and with beautiful displays from InWater Flowers.

Guests enjoyed being immersed in the venue’s brand-new event spaces and seeing the full extent of the building transformation, including installation of the latest event technology and audio-visual equipment throughout.  Eco-conscious design is also heavily featured, with double-glazing – the first of its kind within a Grade I listed property in Westminster – and an entirely carbon-free heating system.

Amie Murphy, Business Development and Marketing Manager at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace says: “We were thrilled to welcome guests from across the events industry to our launch, showcasing the biggest changes our venue has seen since it opened in 1902. Our diverse selection of event spaces, all equipped with advanced technology, can accommodate an array of different formats.  The transformation has allowed us to meet the growing demand for online and hybrid events, as well as heighten the in-person experience. We’re excited to enter this new chapter in our history, as a future forward venue for hosting world-class events.”

Prudence Jaguelin, Searcy’s General Manager at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace adds: “Searcy’s are thrilled to support {10-11} Carlton House Terrace on this exciting launch and look forward to continuing our partnership and enhancing our offerings here as well.
