UK association conference business has increased in recent years; International association conferences have grown to over half of all association business.

Edinburgh – The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has made a series of appointments to its sales team for association business, in response to a marked increase in both UK and international association conferences, with the latter now equating to around 60 per cent of the EICC’s Association business – deciding to hold their conferences at the venue over the last twelve to eighteen months.

The new hires include Lyndsey Rafferty who joins the EICC as Associations Sales Manager from Conference Partners, Elaine Miller (Associations Business Development Manager) who was previously with Marketing Edinburgh with remit to help promote Edinburgh and attract conferences to the city, and Aaron McKeen who joins the team as Associations Researcher. Also in the team, Ekaterina Alison steps up as interim head of  Associations Business Development at the EICC.

2017 was a record year for the EICC with delegate numbers up to almost 100,000 delegates and approximately 200 conferences and events. Economic impact for the city also increased to around £55 million.

Marshall Dallas, Chief Executive of the EICC, said: “We have made these hires to reflect not only the increasing number of association conferences that we are attracting to Edinburgh, but also with an eye on stepping up our efforts to attract even more association business to the venue.  We already have a great team in place and the new positions are about our desire to further improve our skill sets as we prepare for our next phase of growth.”
