James Plant appointed Executive Chef at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Salt Lake City, bringing over 20 years of culinary expertise.
James Plant has been appointed Executive Chef of the newly renovated DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Salt Lake City.
With 20+ years of experience in hospitality and food and beverage management, James is a leader in culinary excellence and brings an impressive abundance of experience to the team. Plant joins the hotel from The Abbington-Layton where he served as Food Service Director and was responsible for food quality, safety and sanitation, managing budgets, financial records, staff retention and updating menus based on resident’s feedback and requests. Prior to that, Plant held multiple positions such as Executive Chef, Bistro Chef, Culinary Instructor, F&B Director, and more.
Plant is known for his signature dishes, cuisine expertise, innovative techniques and media appearances, and he is perfectly positioned to elevate the culinary offerings onsite at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Salt Lake City’s restaurant, Red Beryl Kitchen & Bar. The property’s signature restaurant serves innovative American and Southwest cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, featuring dishes such as lemon ricotta pancakes, Baja fish tacos, roasted cauliflower steak, bison scratch chili and white bean and steak flatbread. The casual space has upgraded finishes throughout with expanded seating areas home to dark wood dining tables, white and black accented chairs and earthy, cocoa-colored custom banquettes.
DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Salt Lake City Downtown recently completed an extensive renovation including a redesign of the central atrium, lobby, guestrooms, food and beverage concepts, fitness center and indoor pool. The hotel is managed by HRI Hospitality and design is led by Studio 11.
