JetBlue appoints David Marcontell Vice President, Technical Operations

David Marcontell appointed as JetBlue’s VP of Technical Operations, bringing extensive industry experience to enhance operational reliability.

Marcontell brings nearly four decades of industry experience to JetBlue. He began his career with the U.S. Air Force as a C-130 maintenance and engineering officer before joining Delta Air Lines, where he held various engineering and procurement positions.

David Marcontell then held engineering and operational roles at ABX Air, Boeing, and North-South Airways, before transitioning to Oliver Wyman CAVOK. During his two decades with the aviation advisory firm, he led over 200 engagements globally. In 2021, Marcontell joined Connect Airlines, a pre-revenue carrier, as its founding chief operating officer.

More recently, Marcontell was an expert associate partner at McKinsey & Company, with a focus on airline operations, original equipment manufacturer aftermarket, as well as airline and independent maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.

“Dave brings deep industry expertise as we continue to focus on improving reliability across our operation,” said Christie. “He will play a critical role in ensuring our technical operations crewmembers have the skills, tools, and resources they need to deliver safe and reliable aircraft.”

Marcontell is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in engineering management from Mercer University.
