Jonas Zörner appointed as Head Chef of Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer, set to bring fresh ideas and continue the restaurant’s success.
NEW YORK – Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant at the iconic Hotel Adlon Kempinski, overlooking Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate, has appointed Jonas Zörner as its new Head Chef. Starting February 12, 2025, following the restaurant’s winter closure, the 31-year-old, Berlin-born chef will take the reins from Chef Reto Brändli, who will return to his native Switzerland after three years at the helm of the acclaimed gastronomic restaurant.
Chef Zörner worked previously at Berlin’s prestigious GOLVET, where he quickly advanced from Chef de Partie to Junior Sous Chef to Sous Chef to Head Chef. Under his leadership, GOLVET retained its Michelin star every year since 2021, and Zörner was honored as Berlin Master Chef in 2022 and received a nomination for “Emerging Chef of the Year” by the highly regarded Der Feinschmecker magazine. Zörner has also worked in the kitchens of Berlin’s two-Michelin-starred Facil restaurant, Heiko Nieder’s The Restaurant at Zurich’s Dolder Grand Hotel and the renowned Chef Kolja Kleeberg’s VAU restaurant.
“With Jonas Zörner, we are thrilled to welcome a rising culinary talent and inspiring leader to our team at the Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer,” says Karina Ansos, Managing Director of the Adlon. “Promoting young, committed talent in all hotel areas has always been a matter close to our hearts in our service-oriented industry and is still one of our recipes for success today. Jonas’s unwavering dedication to quality and passion for the culinary arts assure us that he will continue the success story of our gourmet restaurant, bringing fresh perspectives and exciting new ideas.”
“Becoming head chef at such an esteemed restaurant, following in the footsteps of such successful predecessors, is both an honor and a motivation to meet the high expectations,” says Zörner. “The Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer offers me the opportunity to contribute my expertise alongside an internationally recognized team and to grow at the highest level. I’m excited for this new journey and bringing many ideas with me.”
