With more than a decade of hospitality experience in northern Michigan, a track record of high guest satisfaction in both transient and group markets, and extensive experience managing all aspects of property operations teams, Katherine Herberholz looks to expand on the success of Hotel Indigo and Cherry Tree Inn & Suites in her new role.
TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN – Cherry Tree Inn & Suites – located along the edge of the pristine blue waters of Grand Traverse Bay offering spacious and modern accommodations — and Hotel Indigo – the sophisticated boutique waterfront property located in Traverse City’s lively downtown area – are pleased to announce the appointment of Katherine Herberholz as Dual General Manager for both properties.
On her appointment, Herberholz commented, “With my previous experience building my career all over northern Michigan and most recently on Mackinac Island, I am honored to become a part of the Traverse City community and to bring a fresh perspective to Cherry Tree Inn & Suites and Hotel Indigo. With an extensive background in hospitality, my skill set is focused on curating and executing the best guest experiences and I look forward to welcoming travelers to our hotels as we introduce some exciting new activations.”

Previously, Herberholz supervised housing and residential life at Detroit’s Wayne State University as Residential Director before becoming Assistant General Manager and Group Sales Manager at Murray Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan. Herberholz worked her way up in management over a span of eight years at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island to her most recent position as Director of Resort Operations.
