Jakob Kern joins Nusfjord Village & Resort as Hotel Manager, bringing international experience and a passion for unique, remote hospitality environments to enhance guest experiences.

Jakob Kern has joined Nusfjord Village & Resort as newly appointed Hotel Manager. Growing up in the Italian Alps has shaped his ability to understand how to deliver a special guest experience within such unique surroundings and atmosphere. Jakob brings more than 8 years of experience in the hospitality industry – including having worked at the renowned luxury Britannia Hotel in Trondheim, and the highly respected Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski in Munich.

Jakob will bring a dynamic energy and international background to his position as Hotel Manager along with his wealth of experience. We are thrilled to have him on board and believe that he will play a key role in shaping and elevating the guest experience at Nusfjord,” says Fred Anton F. Ravneberg, General Manager.

What attracted me most is the opportunity to work in a remote location that has so much to offer. A remote fishing village set within the fjord and surrounded by majestic mountains creates a truly distinctive work environment. Nusfjord is luxury combined with the most famous Norwegian nature and architecture. It is a village rich in history based on the culture and is combined with high-end luxury, service and food alternatives,” says Jakob.

Norway’s rich seafaring history comes alive at Nusfjord Village & Resort, a village perched on a picturesque harbour where soaring fjords meet the dramatic seas. Open year-round, adrenaline seekers will be exhilarated at the possibilities of activities offered, while those seeking beauty and tranquility will easily find their peace in this rugged corner of the breathtaking Lofoten archipelago. In Nusfjord, guests will find a surprising refuge of warmth and hospitality in the wild.

A colorful collection of 25 authentic fisherman’s cabins or ‘rorbu’ create one of the most distinctive accommodations and experiences in the world. Set within the village or along the waterfront, each has been lovingly refurbished to attend to the needs of today’s modern traveler, yet they maintain a rustic quality embracing their rich heritage. Three restaurants, Landhandleriet Café, Restaurant Karoline and Oriana Kro are open to both guests and visitors.

The Krefting family’s company,Carucel Eiendom in Oslo, acquired the historic village of Nusfjord Village and Resort with the intention to maintain its rich heritage and proud culture, yet they have breathed new life into it and opened it up for a world of modern travelers. “The family fell in love with the place and made a considerable investment with the goal to preserve and communicate the fishing village’s history while offering the highest level of comfort and service. For us it’s about operating sustainably,” says  Caroline Krefting, COO of Carucel. “The most important thing is that the overall experience is a total immersion in the greatness of nature.”
