A step-by-step guide to your visit to the Statue of Liberty

This beautiful statue was designed by the artist Frederic Auguste Bartholdi while the pedestal was created by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel.

The Statue of Liberty was a token of gift and a symbol of international friendship offered by the French to the people of the United States. This friendship between the two was forged during the period of the American Revolution. This beautiful statue was designed by the artist Frederic Auguste Bartholdi while the pedestal was created by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel.

There were many financial challenges that led to a delay in the establishment of the statue. Finally, the statue was dedicated to Americans on 28 October 1886, after 10 years of the centennial celebration. Since then the statue has represented liberty, democracy, and freedom.

Historical context
The statue surprisingly arrived in 350 pieces in New York when it was shipped from France. It took around 4 months to restructure the entire statue and it was finally put together on 28 October 1886. The observation platform for the statue reopened on 3 August 2004.

July 2004 was a moment when the crown was reopened for the visitors who were dedicated to climbing 354 steps in both directions. The interior access to the statue was stopped on 29 October 2011. Due to some damage, the reopening took time and was slightly delayed. However, the ones who plan to visit the beautiful statue should get the Statue of Liberty tickets in advance.

How to reach the place
The statue is located on the beautiful Liberty Island, New York Harbor. To reach there you will have to take a ferry probably from New Jersey or Battery Park City.

The nearest subways you can visit near the Statue of Liberty are 4 by 5 to Bowling Green, 1 to South Ferry, and N/R to Whitehall Street.

Things to expect while your visit
Tickets have to be bought in advance, otherwise, you won't stand a chance to visit the statue. Then, you have to clear the security prior to boarding the ferry to the island. For the visitors, you must know that security is a major concern and everyone has to pass the steps to the security including walking through metal detectors and x-ray inspections of their baggage.

When your ferry reaches Liberty Island, every traveler has to get down even if they wish to skip their visit to the statue and head on to their Ellis Island tour. As the ferry tour from Liberty Island to Ellis Island is completed, it heads back to Battery Park once again. The ferry rides take around 10 minutes to reach from one stop to another, but it allows additional time for boarding as well as disembarking.

The ferry takes you to both the places – Liberty Island and Ellis Island, visiting both the islands in a day is fine but know that your entire day will be locked here. Don't be late to board the ferry while giving yourself adequate time to enjoy the ride and set your mind to explore the beauty of two different islands.

Conclusion
The Statue of Liberty is a beautiful place to visit and you are here so let's assume you have made up your mind to visit Liberty Island. However, before visiting the place, know some of the things in detail so as to make your visit more enjoyable and relaxing.
