Air Transat serves up new inflight flavours with gourmet menu from Chef Daniel Vezina

The new gourmet dishes are available to all passengers in Club Class, and for pre-order by passengers flying in Economy Class.

Air Transat, the 2019 Skytrax World’s Best Leisure Airline, has unveiled a range of new dishes from the winter 2019-2020 Gourmet menu by Chef Daniel Vezina, bringing a taste of Canada to passengers the moment they step on board.

The new gourmet dishes, which are available to all passengers in Club Class, and for pre-order by passengers flying in Economy Class, include a delicious main lunch / dinner dish of Quebec grain-fed chicken hunter-style, as well mouth-watering breakfast options of buttermilk pancakes with blueberry puree, maple butter and bacon, and a grilled ham and cheese croissant.

The Gourmet menu from renowned Quebec Chef Daniel Vezina features six options for lunch / dinner and two for breakfast, and includes:

Lunch/Dinner

  • New: Quebec grain-fed chicken hunter-style
  • Turkey medallions in a truffle-flavoured cranberry sauce
  • Pulled beef shepherd’s pie
  • Spinach and artichoke lasagna with ricotta
  • Gnocchi with Bolognese sauce
  • Cheese and tomato orzo risotto

Breakfast

  • New: Grilled ham and cheese croissant
  • New: Buttermilk pancakes with blueberry puree, maple butter and bacon

Each lunch/dinner dish is served with a salad, dessert and a glass of wine, and each breakfast is served with a plain croissant, yoghurt, orange juice and coffee.

The Gourmet menu is offered for free in Club Class, where the main dishes are accompanied by the chef’s own strawberry shortcake or chocolate fondant. In Economy Class, the meals must be pre-ordered at least 72 before departure. Lunch/dinner dishes cost £15 and breakfast dishes are £11.

The new menu rolls out as Air Transat prepares to expand services from the UK and Ireland to Toronto and Montreal in summer 2020. The airline will be doubling the frequency of its London Gatwick to Toronto service to twice daily, and increasing its Gatwick to Montreal flights from three to five times weekly, with many of the flights operated by the airline’s new, state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo LR aircraft.

Air Transat is also increasing capacity on its routes from Glasgow and Dublin to Toronto, where it is phasing out the Airbus A310 and replacing it with an all-A330 service from Glasgow five times weekly, and a mix of A330 and A321neo LR services from Dublin five times a week. The airline will also continue to offer an all-A330 five times weekly service from Manchester to Toronto.

For summer 2020, Air Transat will offer over 30 direct flights every week from the UK and Ireland to destinations across Canada.
