Also, airBaltic launched a chatbot for the company’s Facebook Messenger account.

airBaltic, on March 31, 2019, launched scheduled flights between Riga and Dublin, Ireland. Now airBaltic flies with the most modern commercial aircraft Airbus A220-300 aircraft to Dublin four times a week.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “We are happy to start our summer season schedule by launching a long-awaited and highly demanded connection between Riga and Dublin. Now travelers between the two cities will have a great flying experience with very attractive prices in economy or our full service business class on the new Airbus A220-300 aircraft.”

Irish Ambassador Jim Hennessy congratulated Martin Gauss and airBaltic on this breakthrough and looked forward to further traffic in both directions.

airBaltic receives its 16th Airbus A220-300
airBaltic on March 30, 2019 welcomed in Riga its 16th Airbus A220-300 jet of 2019, registered as YL-AAP. This was the second Airbus A220-300 received this year and six more new aircraft will join the airline’s fleet by the end of the year.

Thus far, airBaltic has carried over 2 350 000 passengers on the Airbus A220-300 aircraft with every second airBaltic passenger flying on the aircraft. Airbus A220-300’s have completed more than 23 708 flights and flown over 62 041 block hours.

Since the launch operations on December 14, 2016, airBaltic Airbus A220-300’s have been in more than 35 countries and landed in over 70 airports. Due to arrival of new Airbus A200-300 aircraft, a growing number of destinations are served by it. The latest destination where airBaltic flies its Airbus A220-300’s is Prague.

The Airbus A220-300 has performed beyond the company’s expectations, delivering better overall performance, fuel efficiency and convenience for both passengers and staff. This aircraft offers an excellent flying experience with such benefits for passengers as wider seats, larger windows, more hand luggage space in the cabin, improved lavatories and much more.

The new aircraft is also considerably quieter – with a four times smaller noise footprint. Moreover, at the moment it is the greenest commercial aircraft in the world, as it is the first aircraft to have a transparent declaration of the life-cycle environmental impact, helping to reduce CO2 and NOX emissions by 20% and 50% respectively.

As informed previously, airBaltic will end its Boeing 737 fleet operations in autumn 2019, one year ahead of the original plan. The airline aims to minimize complexity and benefit from the additional efficiency of the Airbus A220-300 aircraft which will be the only jet type operated by airBaltic.

airBaltic Launches Facebook Messenger Chatbot
airBaltic also has become the first airline in the Baltic states to launch a chatbot for the company’s Facebook Messenger account, thus further improving the customer service. Chatbot is a program designed to simulate a conversation with real users.

Martin Gauss, says “airBaltic is known globally for its innovative services and is excited to be among the pioneers who introduce chatbot for its Facebook Messenger account that will make the customer service faster and more efficient. With the chatbot, we can reduce the response time from an average of 15 minutes to just a few seconds.”

The airBaltic chatbot provides such services as answers to the most frequently asked questions about baggage and booking management, as well as introducing users to airBaltic destinations. According to the current plan, in the future passengers will be able to check in with a chatbot, as well as receive their boarding passes via Facebook Messenger.

airBaltic serves over 70 destinations from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, offering the largest variety of destinations and convenient connections via Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS and the Middle East. In summer 2019, airBaltic will introduce launch new destinations from Riga to Dublin, Stuttgart and Lviv as well as Kos and Menorca.
