American Express and Calm open new Health & Wellness space

Finding wellness through travel, 67% agree having a trip to look forward to makes them happy and less stressed and 48% want to spend more on travel to improve their well-being and feel most restored after traveling

 

American Express opened a new Health & Wellness Space in Partnership with Calm, the leading mental wellness brand and the number one app for sleep, mediation, and relaxation, in The Centurion Lounge at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

The dedicated wellness space in the IAH Lounge includes complimentary access to Calm content and a health and wellness cart with a wide variety of health-conscious beverage options, including hot Calm Relax Tea and Calm Focus Tea, coconut water, blended juices, immune booster drinks, and more. Guests can kick-off their travels with a moment of mindfulness as they relax in lounge chairs, enjoy complimentary neck warmers and calming ocean design details.

American Express continues to find new ways to bring wellness experiences and introduce new amenities to The Centurion Network , especially as Card Members are increasingly prioritizing wellness in their travel. According to new data from the Amex Trendex*, nearly half (46%) of survey respondents agree having a lounge to relax at the airport before their flight helps reduce their stress and improve their well-being and overall improves their travel experience. The survey also discovered personal wellness will continue to be top of mind as consumers embrace the new year:

72% say their top resolution is to focus on their health and wellness and 49% plan to spend more on their mental health this year

58% plan on picking up a wellness or fitness activity this year to improve their well-being

* This Amex Trendex online poll was conducted by Morning Consult between December 18-20, 2021 among a sample of 2198 Adults. The interviews were conducted online and the data were weighted to approximate a target sample of Adults based on gender, educational attainment, age, race, and region. Results from the full survey have a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
