The second largest Canadian carrier was founded in Calgary in 1996 and carried 583,000 passengers to 5 destinations with 3 aircraft in its first year. By 2013 the airline carried 18.5 million passengers to 86 destinations. Today WestJet’s modern fleet comprises over 100 aircraft including B737, B767 and Q400 aircraft types and is awaiting delivery of state of the art Dreamliner aircraft towards the end of 2018. WestJet has recently announced its first Dreamliner destinations for 2019 which will be London, Dublin and Paris, all to be served from Calgary.
