SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) announces a highly anticipated Professional Membership option, designed to help entrepreneurs and tour guides advance their careers within the adventure travel industry. Professional Members will become part of the community, learning from industry leaders, and accessing tools, training, resources, and savings specific to the adventure travel trade.
“The COVID-19 crisis has hit the travel industry especially hard,” said Shannon Stowell, CEO of ATTA. “ATTA has been determined to help struggling businesses by providing industry-specific COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, risk management courses, educational and information webinars, and hosting virtual community discussions and inspirational interviews with dynamic thought leaders.”
Joining the ATTA as a Professional Member provides an individual with access to a range of benefits including:

To help current ATTA members differentiate between the types of memberships, ATTA’s active members - currently more than 1400 organizations - will be called Business Members. ATTA Business Members are currently comprised of approximately 60 percent tour operators/DMOs (both inbound and outbound), and the rest are comprised of vetted adventure media and travel advisors as well as accommodations, tourism boards and ministries, service providers, industry partners, and gear brands from 100 countries around the globe. Business Members receive the same resources, tools, and educational opportunities as the new Professional members, but their membership applies to multiple people in the organization, and their benefits also include brand exposure, company listings in online directories, ATTA event discounts, and other exclusive opportunities for brands.
With the launch of a free Community Membership option earlier this year, the ATTA is building a pathway into the adventure travel industry. Free Community Membership can be used for gaining knowledge, Professional Membership is geared towards individuals building business skills, and Business Membership is for continued growth, development, and partnerships for the organizations, tourism boards, and brands that comprise the living ecosystem of the global adventure travel industry.
“These new individual membership categories open the door to those who have previously not fit into the defined business membership categories, yet hold a stake in the industry and belong in the community,” said Stowell.
ATTA members have a bigger impact on the industry by collaborating on a collective purpose. ATTA and its members believe travel, when done right, can be a catalyst for change and have positive outcomes for communities, the environment, wildlife, and culture.
