Bahrain Airport Company inks airport banking services agreement with National Bank of Bahrain

The five-year agreement was signed by BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah and NBB CEO Jean Christophe Durand in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Transportation & Telecommunications and Gulf Air Group Holding Chairman, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.

 

MUHARRAQ, BAHRAIN - Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), signed an agreement with National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) for it to be the sole provider of 24/7 banking services at the new passenger terminal building. NBB won a public tender to operate a Landside Departures branch, also be accessible to staff and non-travelers, which will offer a range of services including international remittances and multicurrency ATMs. The five-year agreement was signed by BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah and NBB CEO Jean Christophe Durand in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Transportation & Telecommunications and Gulf Air Group Holding Chairman, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.

Mr. Al Binfalah said: “The new passenger terminal building will be the first point of contact for approximately 14 million passengers a year and NBB’s airport branch will be an opportunity to showcase the bank’s diverse banking services not only to passengers but also to the airport’s wider staff community. He added: “With our focus on the passenger experience throughout the travel journey, we are pleased to partner with one of the country’s leading commercial banking institutes to provide essential banking services on demand and around the clock."

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Durand said, “This agreement is testament to our long-standing relationship with the Kingdom’s primary gateway and supports BAC’s efforts to provide superior services that will elevate the offerings of the new airport terminal. As Bahrain’s national bank, we are proud to be part of this significant milestone in the history of the Kingdom as we are set to become the new airport’s exclusive banking provider, with the aim to serve the airport community in its entirety including residents, travelers, and retailers operating in the airport. The new branch will enhance the customer experience with a multi-currency ATM to facilitate convenient currency exchange, and moreover will provide a 24 hour service, 7 days a week, making it the only branch in the Kingdom to offer full banking services all day, every day.”
