CAPE CORAL, FL – The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village announce the appointment of Barry Kadel as the resort’s general manager. A long-time member of the Marriott International family, Kadel brings more than 24 years of industry experience and leadership to this role. He will oversee day-to-day operations across all facets of the revitalized resort, including guestrooms and food and beverage outlets, as well as support of its associates and the development of new internal and external programs and activities.

Most recently, Kadel served as general manager of the Charleston Marriott Town Center in Charleston, West Virginia. Under his guidance, the hotel was recognized for significant improvements in its balanced scorecard metrics in sales generation, profit margins, guest satisfaction and associate engagement. Kadel began his tenure with Marriott two decades ago, when he served as an Assistant Food Production Manager at the Research Triangle Park Marriott in Durham, North Carolina. As his career evolved, Kadel spent time in positions within the operations and events divisions before moving into executive committee roles at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott, Westchester Marriott, JW Marriott Houston and Princeton Marriott at Forrestal. Dedicated to his community, Kadel served as the governor-appointed West Virginia Tourism Commissioner as well as the Regional Ambassador for MARPAC. He is also the Founding Chair of Marriott International’s West Virginia Business Council and has spent time on boards of the West Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association, Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau and West Virginia Fund for the Arts.

Westin Cape Coral has a well-respected reputation for providing the utmost in service, an inviting residential atmosphere and bespoke amenities for all travelers,” said Kadel. “As we head into Florida’s peak travel season, I look forward to immersing myself in the local community and working with my new team to continue to build on the resort’s legacy as Southwest Florida’s top leisure and business destination.”

With access to over 400 miles of navigable canals and waterways rich with marine life, The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village is a tranquil Floridian escape offering guests secluded adventures from private fishing charters, kayaks, paddleboards and Dolphin & Sunset Cruises. The resort recently unveiled a $15 million renovation of all guestrooms and suites and showcases new dining menus at its two restaurants – The Nauti Mermaid Dockside Bar & Grill, a relaxing, waterfront Florida eatery and Marker 92 Waterfront Bar & Bistro, with an elegant indoor dining room and outdoor patio. The menus are inspired by the restaurants’ locales, waterfront settings and relationships with local purveyors, where the dishes incorporate ingredients sourced primarily from regional farmers and fishermen to showcase the best local bounty. For dynamic meetings and events, Westin Cape Coral has several flexible venues, including the new Tarpon Point Ballroom featuring 12,260 sq. ft. of meeting and event space to accommodate groups of up to 1,400 guests.
