During the freezing winters, most of us are looking to escape to the warmer lands like Mexico Caribbean Islands. However, it’s not always possible to do so. If you want to stay closer to home this year and feel the tropical vibes, check out the best water parks in Texas to chase away the winter blues.

1. Beach Park at Isla Blanca
There’s no question that Texans love the beach in Isla Blanca and they adore their island waterpark. The best thing about Isla Blanca Island is the tropical feel as compared to other Texas beaches. The wide, clean sands and blue waters are an attraction unto themselves, and when staying at the Resort, you wake up inside a waterpark and next to the beach!

This 15-acre indoor water park on the Gulf Coast has 11 thrilling attractions and 13 water slides, all packed in a natural, beachfront environment.

The waterpark features the nation's largest continuous-wave bodyboarding ride called Surf Rider. You’ll be able to surf on wave-shaped surface that creates endless sheet of water. Don’t worry if you’ve never tried it before, they also provide surfing lessons.

If you come during the summer, outside you’ll find five beaches, sand volleyball courts, plus a variety of ride experiences on the Transportainment river system, including four uphill water coasters.

If you're coming during the winter, you'll get many indoor slides, a lazy river, and a heated pool with plenty of other activities around like the indoorwave pool. 

Other resort activities
If you’re planning to stay at Beach Park at Isla Blanca or even if you’re just visiting the water park, you’ll never run out of activities. Although the beaches at South Padre Island in Texas have always been a big attraction for tourists, there are other fun things to do here that you and your family will adore. Come and experience native marine life in Sea Trek, by snorkeling or scuba diving. Kids will love the Agua Blanca, a twisting tube chute that goes from the upper part of Beach Park’s Rio Adventura to the lower channel, floating them from pool to pool. You can sit back and relax at the Bob’s Float-in Bar, it’s a refreshing heated pool and swim-up bar where to enjoy a cool drink.  If you’re coming with a group, consider to rent a Palapa at the North Beach section of the Beach Park surrounding the Lily Pad area. Palapas provide covered seating for up to 35 people and are furnished with a BBQ grill. Or you can rent a Cabana for your family. Beach Park cabanas provide a common meeting area, private seating, and tableside wait service throughout the day.

Food and drinks
Isla Blanca indoor water park offers more than 5 dining places. Henrique’s is located near the Main Palapa, and directly under the Shrimp Haus, Henrique’s is a great place to grab a burger, pizza, hot dog, chicken tenders or some nachos, with ample seating both in and out of the sun!
 
If you’re around the north end of the park near the Lily Pad children’s area or the Tempest, the North Beach Grill is ready to serve burgers, pizza, hot dogs, corn dogs, Dippin’ Dots, Ice Cream, ICEE’s or Funnel Cakes. If you just want to settle in for your favorite adult beverage, the neighboring North Beach Bar provides shaded comfort so you can catch that day’s game or just people-watch.
 
2. Kalahari Resort

Kalahari is a full-featured resort that offers something for everyone in the family from the litte ones to the grandparents.

While Wisconsin can be mercilessly chilly during the winter, it’s always summertime inside the indoor waterpark where you and your kids can splash in the wave pool, brave the water slides, surf the waves in the Flowrider, hang with the kids by the giant water play structure in the center. 

There’s will still be a lot to explore after a two day stay in the resort.

The water play structure called “Leopard’s Lair” is huge complete with 7 kid-sized water slides, rope ladders and lots of fountains and water sprays.

Leopard’s Lair is a perfect area for your little ones. One of the new areas of the water park the new Tiko’s Waterhole for the toddlers, is designed exclusively for the tiny crowd of babies and toddlers.

For adults there are 7 waterslides, the Screaming Hyena and Sahara Sidewinders are the most thrilling ones. 

You can take your whole family to relax in a wave pool and lazy river to spend some time together.

Other activities
Kalahari’s Arcade is stocked with games such as skee-ball, claw games, driving as well as shooting games. All the games work with credits on a card so there are no coins to deal with, and tickets can be won.

An extremely exciting area of Kalahari is the their indoor Theme Park.  It has a huge indoor ferris wheel (where else could you ride one indoors?), 100s of arcades games here too, a rock climbing wall, ropes course, mini-golf, go carts, laser tag and a bowling alley. You can buy a theme park wrist band for a daily fee.

Food and drinks
Kalahari offers signature restaurants, the same ones in all of their resorts. A hit among visitors is the Trappers Turn Dining. Their culinary team has created a menu with dining choices that span from traditional to unique. It’s Open for most holiday feasts and every Friday Night Fish Fry, Saturday Night Prime Rib, and the local's favorite Sunday Brunch.

Adults gather around the Redd's Piano Bar and Lounge. Their staff will provide you with delicious crafted cocktails while you enjoy live entertainment.

3. Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark
The roof of Epic Waters indoor waterpark is see-through, and it covers  80,000 square feet of fun so you get all the benefits of feeling like you’re outdoors, while enjoying summery temperatures even if it’s snowing.

Their lazy river is the longest in Texas, it winds around the entire area making it easy to see your group going by.

The little ones will enjoy the zero entry splash area complete with fountains and water galore. They can spend hours climbing the stairs and venture down the simple slides in that area.

Older kids will enjoy the Flowrider and the AquaNaut, as well as the pool, lazy river, and splash area.

If you’re coming with your family, enjoy a covered cabana (available for reservation) and order some snacks or meals by the poolside.

In the Hungry Wave Cafe, whether you’re indulging on the greatness that is pizza, burgers, and fries, or enjoying a light meals such as fresh salads or tasty wraps, you’ll be able to find something that will satisfy your cravings. Seasonal favorites such as ice cream and snow cones can be found throughout the park on any given day.

If you want to relax with beer, wine, or signature cocktails, head to  Longboards Bar & Lounge. It’s a full-service bar located in front of the FlowRider inside Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark.

4. Great Wolf Lodge
The Great Wolf Lodge is basically a kid’s paradise, a little slice of heaven on earth, and there’s a lot for adults to like, too. This chain indoor water park is well loved throughout the states and it’s rated as one of the best in Wisconsin.

There’s an entire pool (the most heavily lifeguarded pool in the park) for babies and toddlers – the deepest part of this pool is 18″. The little ones will also love to explore the multiple-level water fort treehouse. The treehouse is equipped with water toys and kid-activated splash features. Bigger kids will love the fort, the lazy river, and the wave pool. And adults will have a blast on the big slides.

The Great Wolf offer four stories of exhilarating, fast-water fun take you through swiftly banking turns and steep pitches in our tandem tube ride. The perfect trip for two is on the Alberta Falls water slide that takes you right outside the building and back in again before your final drop into the plunge pool.

Check out the arcade. The Northern Lights Arcade is packed with incredible games to challenge and entertain the entire family. Lights, action, and energy fill the arcade with excitement as you’re surrounded by the newest and best games, and great prizes, too. Then take your family on a MagiQuest to explore the lodge. After that, you can play real bowling, play games and create something adorable at the Build-A-Bear Workshop.

When you get thirsty or hungry, visit their sumptuous buffet throughout the day.

5. The WaterPark at The Villages
You know the kids have been chomping at the bit for this. This WaterPark at the Villages features a 19,000-square-foot, glass-enclosed, climate- controlled recreational area, whith retractable roof for open-air fun in the warmer summer months.
